How close to normal can I expect Stattera to make me?

A couple of months ago I started taking Strattera for ADD, not ADHD. I know that the drug has producted stastically significant results. However, with a big enough sample a statistically significant difference can be arbitrarily small; i.e. one might expect only small results from a drug that obtains significant results. How significant are these results in terms that I can understand? That is, how close to normal can I expect this drug to make me?

Assume that I am average for ADD and that my results from the drug will be average.

Well, how do you feel now? I’d love to get an update from you.

My husband is going to begin taking Strattera on Sunday. I hate to put all my eggs in one basket, but I really hope this medication makes a world of difference for him, very quickly.

I guess miracles happen, but I’m beginning to doubt that one pill will make him that much better.

If anyone has something to offer on the subject, please do tell.

I’m scared, the future is looking like a bad movie with a worse ending.

I took Strattera for a couple of months and found that while it did help somewhat – I found I was slightly more likely to be motivated to do something that needed doing, and actually did it – I ultimately stopped taking it.

One of the noted side effects is “difficulty of urination”, and for me it became uncomfortable enough that the benefits no longer outweighed the problem. Not everyone will have this problem, but for me it was like all of a sudden I had a major prostate problem that I really didn’t (and don’t) have.

One of the other side effects I absolutely adored, though, was the decrease in appetite. It was real, and it was strong. I don’t think I lost a lot (if any) weight – my metabolism is the most efficient in the Universe, lucky me :frowning: – but I truly was like never hungry, and even when I was, I really didn’t want to eat all that much. That alone was almost enough to keep me taking it, but in the end, well, it wasn’t.

I have heard of many people who’ve had much success with Strattera. I hope it works for you and yours. Good luck!
