New ADD med Strattera

My kid just started this, and I am thinking about it. Anybody else?

Sounds interesting, I might ask my shrink about it. I’m on concerta currently, and I’m pretty happy with it, but not ingesting 36mg of extended release amphetamine per day would probably be a good thing.

I used to be on wellbutrin, which also inhibits uptake of norepinephrine (I’m pretty sure, anyway), and had decent results for control of my ADHD symptoms, although it’s effacy declined considerably after extended use. It certainly seems safer than the other alternatives.

Yeah, Im on wellbutrin, and it doesnt seem to help as much anymore. Still works, just not as well. This new stuff is non stimulant.

I’ve just emailed Dr. Dad, a Pediatrician. My son is ADHD and currently on Ritalin, and the stimulant really does in his appetite.

I just pulled my kid off of ritalin, because not only did it kill his appetite, but it kind of zombied him out. It got to the point he never talked, never laughed…I pulled him off of ritalin over the holidays, and it was a night and day differance. the school kinda freaked, but I was not willing to do that to him again. Ritalin is just bad for some kids, and my kid is one of those. He was on wellbutrin, and it helped a little, but he was taking as much of that as is safe. My boy just started it today, I will post how it work as it starts to take effect.

BTW, I found this site, it seems pretty good.

Well, been a while since I posted this. The meds have done wonders for my kid. I tried it, but they started me out on too high a dose and it made me dizzy. I plan to go back on it later, after I get employed again. Anybody else tried it?

I’ve been on it since the beginning of the year–more or less.

Yaeh, if you read my first post, it was in jannuary…

I just started Strattera this week (40 mg, switching to 60 mg on the 5th day) and I’m still in the morning sickness part. Has this drug had any noticeable effects for you?

My daughter was on it briefly, but couldn’t stand the side effects. It played hell with her appetite and made her feel jittery.
