How cold for you this morning?

My co-worker in Michigan said some guy went out to walk his dog last night and slipped on his patio and broke his leg. His carpool found him frozen to death this morning.:frowning:

I get around. It was -11 at home at 5:30 AM. The lake was making giant slushie sounds again, as the waves roll in. A neat effect, listening to it while sitting in the hot tub, when it’s minus double digits outside.

Ours is stuck at 20. I think it was 20 one day last week. Minus 6 now. Yesterday was the coldest since 1996 – minus 23.

Kalhoun, that’s awful!

Sorry guys, but it’s about +50F (+10C) here right now.

+7F in Chattanooga. It didn’t feel that cold, really.

I don’t feel so bad now; we only got down to -9F.

-5F this morning in York, Maine, about normal for the area this time of year, meh, I’v dealt with worse, like the time I lived in Vermont and it never got above -20F for almost a month, average was -35F, without wind chill

The cats were begging to go out this morning…
Wannagoout!wannagoout!wannagooutNOW! <blast of subzero air as I open the door>No!Nowannagoout!, Icanhazwarmbedspread?!

the car started right up this morning, two slow turns of the starter motor and it was purring like an extremely cold kitten

Cool season now, and it’s actually getting down into the mid-60s Fahrenheit at night now. Brrr! Should be back into the 70s and 80s at night in a couple of weeks.

(Still in the 80s daytime, pushing 90.)

Yeah, we actually dipped down into the 40s, maybe 45-48F at the worst. It is very windy, so it’s not exactly “pleasant” out right now, at 55 F it’s bearable.

You know we’re going to hell for this, right?

Eh. I was in Tampa for a conference in October and it was high 80s. I was miserable. We have that kind of weather around here, but that’s for summer. If it’s not gone by mid or late September, it’s abnormal.

It was -17 F without windchill when I left the house this morning to walk several blocks to the train station, as always. The only bad part (besides the usual “trying to wrap the scarf around the face in such a manner that it doesn’t end up frosting up my glasses” puzzle) was that the gloves I bought this year are really substandard, and only showed that during the last two days when it actually got cold out. My fingertips started getting numb after less than two blocks. Plus my earmuffs press too hard on my ears. :frowning: Think I’m making a trip to REI or a similar place tomorrow.

I’d better get some barbecue food if I’m having a party. Just to rub it in some more I’ve been working in the garden in shorts and a tank top.

65 right now. I’m freezing!! Should warm up into the 70s and 80s by next week, though. I haven’t had to turn on the heat yet this winter. The a/c is still on, just not kicking in.

Since you asked, yes, it is. Where did you move here from?

Did he do the doggy doo doo dance? You know, lifting a leg at a time. I caught my first dog once walking on just her front feet.

In Calgary? Is it moving our way? Woo hoo!!

Heat wave. We’re at +5F here at Kasa Kalhoun.

Oh man. In the winter, I’m always just a little uneasy that I might find a frozen dead guy outside when I leave my apartment in the morning, ever since the time I slipped on the ice at the top of the two steps and landed flat on my back on the sidewalk below. I was so bundled up that I was unharmed except for having the wind knocked out of me… but my head was ten centimetres from getting cracked open on the concrete edge of the lower step. Unconscious = dead.

I think I might have made Mr. Neville worried last night that something like that had happened to me. I had a doctor’s appointment, so when I stopped by home before that, I left my cell phone at home, so it wouldn’t ring in the doctor’s office. Then after that, I shoveled the walks by our house, then went to the pharmacy to drop off my prescription for my new medicine. While I was out, I went to run some other errands, figuring I’d be home before he came home from work. Of course, errands always take longer than you think they will. He was home by the time I got home and wondering where I was…

Damn, we’re supposed to go down to -11 tonight.

I have an enclosed patio, off the living room, that I use as a greenhouse. It has double-paned windows and two baseboard heaters . . . usually enough to keep the place warm. I usually close the living room door at night, but in this weather I have to leave it open 24/7, to let more heat into the patio.

It was 23 F this morning, but tonight it’s supposed to get down to 18 F or so.

Pretty cold for us delicate hothouse flowers. :stuck_out_tongue:

Harmonius, I hope the repairman in your OP charged that old biddy double price.
