Wish I’d tried some of these this morning.
*Yes, pronounced the way you think. And we’ve heard all the jokes already.
The balloon was pretty cool. I’ve seen them do the hot water before.
Hey, there’s an Athol in SoDak, too. At least, until the elevator and the last few houses fall down.
The worst thing about the really cold weather is the idea that it’s 40 degrees warmer today than it was over the weekend. Now, just another 15-20 degrees, and it will be above freezing…
What, no blowing bubbles from hot liquid to see if they’d freeze and shatter?
I used to canvas door-to-door in some serious cold; we’d switch to pencils then. My iPod doesn’t work in those kinds of temperatures; I have to tuck it in my glove or inside my jacket or the battery dies. If you blow a bubble with your gum, the bubble will freeze. Your cheeks will get so cold and stiff that when you smile, they take a little while to come back down again.
It’s 35 here…that’s Celcius btw.
In Alice Springs it’s expected to get to 47 today, so I consider that it’s relatively cold here in Corowa.
Frig, but it’s hot but.
Did this in a garage in Fargo, ND about 15 years ago when temp was sub-zero (Fahrenheit). The bubbles rise at first because they’re filled with warm breath, but they quickly cool and descend; by the time they hit the ground, they’ve frozen. They don’t shatter or pop when they hit the ground, they just crumple like a wad of plastic wrap.
Earlier this week I woke up to -5 F. Feeding the horses, etc sucked, especially when I accidentally splashed water on my bare hands. Later the same day it was +25 F. It felt downright tropical.
