How come Rogaine does not work for receding hairlines?

I don’t think there is research to address this specific issue. The mechanisms are the same, in that in both sexes, androgenetic alopecia is caused by a combination of two factors:
an inherited predisposition toward baldness ; from either side of the family tree; and stimulation of those hair follicles that are sensitive to the male hormone dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. An enzyme, 5-alpha reductase, converts the male hormone testosterone into the more potent DHT at the hair follicle.

Why no success on the front hairline? Well, that is not know, but is likely due to the fact that the front hairline is more severely attacked. Both Finastride?(Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine) are not that good at actually regrowing hair, and both hardly work on actuall bald scalps, regrowing peach fuzz in small percentages.

It seems your best shot is to preserve the hair you have. Both products barely regrow hair on some people…with terrible results on actual hard bald areas…and neither can claim to **regrow ** front hairlines. It is likely they have an effect on saving/slowing the front hairloss.
