I remember some of those from the ‘Gang Wars’ storyline where somehow the two of them end up on opposing sides.
Of course, one of the the coolest storylines that I’ve read was when Spidey gets blinded (forget the villain’s name…undead clone of Captain Stacey, i think), and is somehow able to use his spider-sense like DDs ‘radar.’
I have to admit that Spidey is perhaps my favorite Marvel character…you always seemed to get your money’s worth with him. And he was always doing team-ups with someone or another. Even had a series devoted to that (Marvel Team-Up).
I feel I should point out that among comic fans, the SpideyVsFirelord fight is an event that became the mold for characters being badly written. The lingo on other parts of the 'Net is that whenever Wolvie even survives a fight with the Hulk, or when Batman pulls off yet another ringer-metahuman feat, its a SvsFL event and is summarily ‘disqualified’ from the character’s history.
Some character shields are just too big to be written well.
Hmmm, I knew that sounded wrong when I was typing it.
Never even heard of it. What is it?
Maybe superficially, but the two characters are different enough. Now Moon Knight, on the other hand, is a shameless ripoff (And really, a vigilante trying to sneak around at night dressed in all white?)
It really depends on how the battle is won, IMO. From the way it’s been described, the way Spidey beat Firelord sounds pretty reasonable for both characters. (Spidey wins using improv and by playing on the ego of his enemy). Batman beating the entire JLA? Sense he did it with traps that he had build years in advance, it makes since to me. Batman’s recent tussle with Superman made fairly good sense too (Of course he’d bring the kriptonite ring; he trust no one. However, why didn’t the ring reduce Supes to a drooling pile of goo, like every other time he’s exposed to K?).
For me, Spidey’s somewhat improbable defeat of cosmic bad guys is balanced by the fact the he also gets his ass handed to him pretty frequently.
However, what IS the deal with Daredevil kicking his ass on a regular basis? I never bought that.
It’s kind of like Magic the Gathering, only with a map and miniatures. Highly addictive actually, and a few of the miniatures go for top dollar on eBay. Here’s a link. There are also figures for DC characters.
