Spiderman VS Wolverine

Ok, Maybe a GD topic but here goes.

Wolverine with his mutant healing powers and his feral instincts against Spiderman and his super strength, agility and spider sense.

So who is it?

This was actually the subject of at least one Marvel Comics Graphic Novels. The first one I recall ended up with something like Spiderman having Wolverine down, fist raised in the air, ready to smash Wolverine. And then he realized that Wolverine had his fist to Spidey’s throat, ready to extend his claws.

The verdict? Draw. But it was a helluva fight, bub.

C’mon. Spiderman’s main weapon is his webbing, which Wolverine would cut through like so much, um, cobweb. Wolverine - no contest.

Why would they fight in the first place? Both of them are on the side of good, right?

Yes, the first reference I could find dates back some 13-14 years, February of 1987.

This was an EXCELLENT production.

And Smeggy, you forget Peter Parker’s Spider Strength and agility. Remember the sunday comics? With Spidey lifting a BUS? Top that with his being able to gaily prance up a wall and drop cinderblocks on Logan, and there’s no real hope for anything but a tie.

The way I see it, these two are pretty evenly matched in a battle. Their respective ‘powers’ would cancel out, methinks. I’m guessing Wolverine could rip/cut Spidey’s webbing without too much trouble, and Spidey could prolly dance outta the way of anything Wolvie could come up with, ala the ol’ spider-sense. Spider Man is prolly stronger and more agile, but he wouldn’t dare put himself in a position to grapple.

But evenly matched as they are physically, Wolverine’s got the mental edge. Get him pissed enough, and he’d stop at NOTHING in order to open the proverbial can 'o whoop-ass. Pete’s got a case of elephantitis-of-the-morals, and he just doesn’t have the killer instinct to finish the job.

So…to conclude. Peter gets in Logan’s reach, he’s spider-kabob. Then again, once Spider Man realizes he’s fighting a literal killing machine, he’s gonna run home like a little pantywaist.

By the way, I’m just assuming that they’re fighting in a big open space, or maybe a deserted city area. It might make a difference WHERE they do battle (cars to throw at each other, buildings to swing on, available weapons, etc.)

Spider man has several times Wolverine’s strength and is considerably faster, agility wise. Wolverine could probably kill Spiderman if he could get close enough with his claws.

It a classic mongoose (Spiderman) vs snake (Wolverine) battle. Mongoose usually wins these. NUFF SAID!

Personnaly, I’m all for Wolverine, but I think Spidey would take him.

It’s a question of reach, really. Sure, Wolverine can cut web around him, but what if his claws are en-sheathed? What if his arms are bound to his sides? Or above his head? You can’t cut what you can’t reach. Spidey has the biggest advantage there is: that ability to attack from a distance.

Remember the different personality types between the two of them…

Spidey is task-oriented. He concerns himself with the HOW he’s going to defeat Wolverine. Is he justified in using overwhelming force? Is Wolverine really just mis-understood? Etc…
Wolverine is goal-oriented. He wants Spidey dead. How isn’t a real issue.

“I’m the best there is at what I do…what I do isn’t very nice”

Cosidering they’re both lame-ass Marvel characters (easily the worst comics company in the world) who cares?

so…what? you’re more of an Image comics guy?

Who would you put up then?

Spawn?
The Tick?
The Savage Dragon?
Hellspawn?
The kids from Gen-13?
C’mon, who?

Now, I’d like to see Wolverine v. Madcap, or Spider-Man v. The Adolescent Radioactive Black-Belt Hampsters.

Batman would beat both their asses.

I think we would be looking at a tight race here … given that Marvel/DC (can’t remember who owns who) can’t very well kill of either character, we would see one of two things:

  1. A draw …

  2. Peter Parker would run away. He is good at it and does not like to fight.

All for Wolverine (I always thought Spiderman was kind of a pansy), but I’d have to go with the general concensus and vote for a draw, for the abovementioned reasons.

[sub][sup]every time i see spiderman’s “real name” i think “peter parker parked a peck of pickled peters”[/sup][/sub]

I don’t agree. Mental encompasses both psychological and intellectual phenomena. Psychology wise, the more tranquil, reason-motivated subject should hold a palpable edge over his more feral, instinct-obedient counterpart. Give the edge to Spidey here.

Intellectually wise, a more knowledgeable and creative mind should devise more convenient strategies and make better use of the surrounding environment, exploiting the potentialities it offers towards helping his cause. Once again, Spidey holds a clearly discernable edge, Wolverine coming not even close to being an intellectual match for the bright scientist hidden within Spider Man’s costume.

Physical powers wise, they are pretty even. Possibly a slight edge could be given to Wolvie in spite of his healing powers, which would make it pretty difficult for Spider Man to severely damage him.

As mentioned before by ** Thrashbarg**, the scenery of the fight would play an important role. Spidey would definitely benefit from a structure-laden environment such as a city, both for his intellectual edge and because it would allow for his web-slinging prowess to be a factor. An isolated environment would then be the ideal battle scenario for Wolvie.

Summing it up, home field advantage, just like in professional sports, should be the decisive factor in determining the outcome of the fight.

HULK SMASH!

OK im surprised no one has realized that Wolverine would kick his ass without a problem. Like sure Spiderman could probably web him up and make him immobile but then the X-men would come along and fry spiderman’s ass. Of course Wolverine’s pride would be hurt but that wouldn’t matter much since spiderman would be smooshed. And do u realize that even though spiderman is very agile, Wolverine can also move pretty quickly. His body also like heals itself so he is pretty much invincible

Wouldn’t that be because of rather than in spite of? [/nitpick]

legs down!
