Incidentally, in at least some versions of Explorer (though not Chrome, annoyingly), you can get quick italic, bold and underline tags by typing Control-I, Control-B and Control-U.

There are probably others as well, but I haven’t run the entire keyboard.

Works in Firefox ***as ***well. Those seem to be the only ones available in Firefox too.
