How do you do a strikethrough?

Copying and pasting strikedthrough text seems to have it come out in the Calabri font. There’s no button available to strikethrough text. Is there a text flag that allows people to strikethrough words?

[ del] word [ /del] (without the extra space)

Protip, if you hit the quote button, you can see the code. Try it, [del]quote my post[/del]. You don’t have to actually post anything, just hit the quote button.

YMMV, depending on certain settings, but it usually works.

The BB code link in the posting rules infobox on the bottom left corner of the page will also take you to a listing of all the tags supported in this version of vbulletin, though I know img and attach have specifically been disabled.

[del]Thanks.[/del] Thank you.

CMC fnord!

Or you can get the SDMB S Button Adder TamperMonkey script that BigT created a while back. It adds strikethrough, sub and superscript, and spoiler buttons to the editing bar. That and his SDMB Old Smileys scripts are favorites of mine.

YEAH, THERE ARE A COUPLE OF TRlCKS THAT LET YOU POST IN ALL CAPS.

Tell us more about these trLcks, cochrane.

And I’m amazed that cmc’s trick works.

Mangetout’s trick(s).

OK, another dumb question. Is there any way to insert multiple spaces (or a TAB character) into a post? If I put in multiple spaces, it looks like all extraneous spaces are deleted when I post.

Using the indent function forces the succeeding text to the next line, as does the center function.

TIA

Yeah, I never quite worked out how to add it there. I’d have to create the buttons only when the edit box appears, and I couldn’t find a trigger that properly detects the existence of the edit box. .

Yes, using nonbreaking spaces. However, it’s rather finicky.

What you have to do is type &#160; for every additional space you would like to include. This is fairly standard. However, what’s finicky is that, if you preview and then submit, the non-breaking space will be removed.

Instead, you must submit the original page before you previewed.

Thanks, BigT. I’ll give it a try, although it looks like it might be more trouble than what it’s worth.

Any way to insert a TAB?

Okay, now how about flashing text, and text that scrolls from one side to another. It would also be nice to have text that “runs away” from the cursor, scattering all over the screen. These will all be useful in clarifying discourse.

I would like a sarcasm font where all of the closed letter forms wink at you.

[noparse][noparse][/noparse][/noparse] tags are useful.

If I type [noparse][noparse]bold[/noparse][/noparse], then I can show someone how to bold so that it shows up as [noparse]bold[/noparse] without the “remove the spaces” remark.

Of course, the above is done with nested noparse tags.

I cannot read your post without repeatedly seeing “arse”.
mmm

Cool, so that’s like … [right](over here!) right justify[/right]

is [noparse][right](over here!) right justify[/right][/noparse],

… and … (over here now) center justify

is [noparse](over here now) center justify[/noparse]

Simpler … is … to … insert … characters … like ., then change their color to white.

Or … better … yet, … paint … them … LemonChiffon.
