Somehow when I was trying to download some new codecs, I ended up downloading a whole different (but older) version of Media Player. And now my Internet Explorer is using that to play embedded videos.
My normal Meida Player is Version 10.000 something. But the one playing embedded content is Version 6.00 something.
I can’t find this other media player in the Uninstal Menu or Start Menu. I’m sure there is something I can do in the registry to fix this problem.
I’ve seen it before… a while ago… but don’t remember how to fix it. Windows XP ships with media player 6 and media player 9 or 10, I’m not really sure why. It’s possible that the codec made 6 your default player.
Try to locate the executable and tinkering with the options : C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe
Or screw around with the options in media player 10 (wmplayer.exe)
