The blanket is a good idea. My cats love those super soft microfiber blankets. When I use one it is guaranteed to attract most of the cats in the house who all have to make biscuits on it.
Just came back to this thread and saw the weird set of numbers there…the logical explanation is, of course, that one of the cats was stepping on the keyboard while I tried to post…sigh.

Could you get a small towel or washcloth that has the scent of the kittens mother on it? And keep it on your wife’s lap. At six weeks old the kitten probably still fondly remembers Mama Kitty.
