How do I get my section sign back?

I am a pretty low-expertise user of Word Perfect every day at work. The only shortcut I regularly use is the section sign - §. The shortcut is Alt 21.

A couple of months back I was given a new computer, and I believe they did some work on the server. Afterwards, I no longer had the shortcut. Now when I hit Alt 21, my cursor just jumps down to the end of the page.

My IT person is useless, and simply says, “Gee, that shouldn’t have happened!”

For the past couple of months I’ve had to find another document where I used the section sign, and cut and paste it into my current doc. I could go on like this indefinitely, but it sure seems silly - and I would hope - unnecessary. Anyone got any ideas?

Are you sure it’s Alt 21, and not Alt 021?

Alternately, are you using the numpad, or the numbers above the letters?

Someone with a more sure answer will come along shortly, but these things come to mind:

  • Make sure “NUM LOCK” is set.
  • If you were using the above-the-keyboard numbers, try the number pad instead.
  • Try “021” instead of “21”.

§ince the “1” button on my keypad also §ay§ “end,” I’m gue§§ing the NUM lock i§ off.

Damn, that was simple.
When you are as tech ignorant as I, it is lovely to have a support person who couldn’t even figure that out.
Thanks so much.

try and pound 21 semicolon – doesn’t appear to work.
