Watching a really good movie last night (‘Stickmen’… rent it if you can) and one of the actors, when congratulated on winning a pool tournament, said “Well, we’re not here to f*ck spiders”
Instantly thought that it would make a great motto for my dragonboating team - if translated into Latin that is. Make us seem smarter or something, if nothing else, and maybe slightly less likely to offend innocent bystanders and all that. Can anyone help me on translating that?
And while I’m on the topic of team mottos, anyone seen or thought of any good ones that I can blatantly plagiarise?
sheesh, you guys are amazing… Answers and so quickly too!! Maybe I should have gone for the really difficult and asked for it in Urdu or something. Nah, still think Latin just has that classy touch.
CK Dexter Haven, you were right, it was ‘well’ as in ‘hey’… but really, it’s the other half of the sentence that I’m more focused on!
While we’re on the subject, I heard that someone had a T-shirt that had a phrase in Latin that translated to “If you can read this, you’re overeducated.” Can anyone translate this to Latin?
