Im trying to share my folder in Windows 10, but when i goto network settings i get no understanding. I only want to share a folder, not my whole computer
I’m not networked up at home, but share a lot at work.
You should be able to go to file explorer>right click folder>properties>sharing tab.
I had problems sharing printers in Win 7. Sharing was between users, not computers’ I’m not sure how that works in Win 10 or 11.
It’s been a while since I did this (they won’t allow shared folders on work PCs anymore) but IIRC on that properties tab you have to allow sharing, give the shared folder a name, and you can also set permissions for which users or groups have access and how many users can access it at the same time.
If for example my computer name is “shoeless” and the folder name is “shared”, then it can be accessed on other computers by going to “\shoeless\shared”. You can also use the computer’s IP address after the \ instead of the name, if it has a static IP address.
