I already got a badge but it doesn’t show on my profile why is that?

There is often a lag on the profile page for things like Badges, Top Topics (Threads Starts) and Top Replies.
You’ll probably see them in a few hours and definitely by tomorrow.
When I click your name I see the First Emoji badge show up for you.
Interesting, I see 3 badges.
I wonder if 2 are hidden from general users. This stuff almost always updates overnight. So it could just be 2 were lagging.
We should also mention that we have badges here because they’re an automatic feature of Discourse, but they’re not really part of the culture here.

This is the first I’ve even heard of badges.
If you go to your badges page (https://boards.straightdope.com/u/your_name/badges), or find it in your preferences, you can “star” (favorite) up to 2 badges and they’ll show up in your profile.
Mostly they’re just pointless junk that Discourse added early on, when they were trying to “gamify” the forum experience.
Pointless junk “Participation Trophy-Thank You For Breathing!” badges, for the most part.
I do too. Now.

What!? You mean my accomplishments were not the talk of the mod loop? I’m crushed… just devastated. I thought those badges were to be worn with pride.
