I think I’m finally done with all the painting downstairs. I did the top half of 2 doors, both sides of 2 other doors, and one side of the last door. I was going to hang pictures today, but I’m tired and I don’wanna. Leave that for tomorrow.
Tomorrow is my daughter and SIL’s anniversary and I promised to watch Roxy so they can go out to dinner. I’ll be getting her for supper and they (durn well) will pick her up after their date. So I’ll need to have it all in order before she gets here - her toys are kinda all over the place, as are my tools. But I did vacuum today, so that’s done.
Supper tonight will be leftover chickie-rice soup. Beyond that, chillage.
The carpet being dry, I hooked up the washing machine and ran a cycle. No leaks. I’ve just been to the hardware store, where I bought a pack of those furniture slider. I also bought some 15 lb. 3M double-sided tape, but the discs had pockets that fit over the washer’s feet. Now I can move it out and in without the hand truck. I’m running another cycle now for a last leak check.
In other news, I joined a staff meating via Zoom – even though I’m on vacation. One of the account executives had been called by a recruiter (he was not looking for a job) and decided to accept the offer. Looks like I’ll have the basement orifice to myself. (Not that we were there on the same day.)
flyboy Congrats on the successful repair, now time to remove the carpet. And on the solo office.
FCM Yay for finishing the painting.
I need to get to painting the south side of the house this year, I try to do a portion each year, last year it was the trim and porch on the front, this year is the body on the south and back/west. But it’s 91 degrees outside and I don’t wanna. Plus I think I need to get paint.
Ok, I just checked it out (literally, from my library) as an online ebook. We can have a wee little Mumper book club (if I can stop falling asleep to NCIS on Netflix). Which will require me crawling around on the floor behind the loveseat to plug in the extension cord so I have a way to charge the iPad while I read. Oh, the pressure!
A house in my neighborhood burned down because a neighbor kid was playing with fireworks. I enjoy the pyrotechnics as much as anyone, but I’m sick of this crap. Ban them all, or at least limit the sales to professionals.
I like painting but don’t get to do it these days.
I walked to the gym early, then walked to the grocery store, as I was out of fresh produce. Then I collapsed with a fan wafting air my direction, which was restorative. In a minute I’ll get up and chop veggies so they’re ready to stir into egg whites every morning.
After that, I’ll putter around, take a cool soak in the tub and, when the temp drops outside, do a load of laundry. I could do it now if I had a clothesline and a place to put it.
MetalMouse, I thought of you when the Uber driver was talking about Saudi Arabia! He also waxed nostalgic about the clay jug that kept water cook for drinking.
flyboy, will you get to keep the solo office, or will they replace your basement-mate?
VanGo, I rented a small house in Indiana back in the early eighties that had carpet in the bathroom. The bedroom had linoleum. Go figure.
Mooooooooom, was the house with the red carpet formerly a house of ill repute? :d&r:
sari, if they don’t get this documentation, send it certified mail. If they have to sign for it, there’s no denying that they were the ones who lost it. Or, if you still want to go electronic, send it with a read receipt.
Irked, came home, picked Nelson up from the sitter, et and am now chilling before KP.
My boss’ golden girl may have some interesting attention on her reconciliations in the future. I had noticed a pattern of the same variances as last counted, when they were written as timing issues, no adjustment needed. I dropped two copies of those into the counts that I got stuck with this month that she apparently had blown off. She’s already had the brakes put on her for scooping up the easy counts to make her numbers. Oh, well. Sometimes the turtle wins the race.
No, but it was owned by an older couple with some very odd decor ideas. Kinda like this house, tho this one had contact paper as wallpaper in the bathroom and kitchen. And that’s not to mention the house in VA that was full of dead animals. (owner was a hunter who loved his taxidermied corpses…)
And my day is winding down. more busies tomorrow, chillage tonight.
The phone call was from my son. He’s farther north, but it’s been even hotter there than here. Speaking of which, it’s only 85º out there! Woo-hoo! So nice to take out trash without my shoes sticking to the pavement. (My computer has auto-correct and kept wanting to make that “my shorts sticking to the pavement”. My laptop has a Laurel and Hardy Drive.)
red, I’d bet money that you’re going to outlast Golden Girl, not because “plodding wins the race,” but because intelligence and competence do.
Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered, quality cee-mint pond was had, nappage achieved, and leftovers got et. Have I memtioned lately how much I lurve bein’ a retired drain on society? Also, we had a tboomer come through a little while ago that cooled things down nicely.
Evening all. Pretty much a do-nothing day, didn’t even take a nap, watched my soccer games and did a little ‘putting things in a different place’ activity, but that was about it. Rain never showed up despite being promised, so may have to water the lawn tomorrow. Also made up my shopping list for the Great July Stockage planned for Thorsday.
