You can’t rush genius, Captain Amazing. Give the man some time.
Captain Amazing and Juniper200,
Thanks for the praise and the interest. Basically I was starting to get burned out. I intend to finish 'em at some point, but…I don’t want to do a half-assed job so I’m taking a break.
Hopefully the following won’t come across as conceited as I think it might: If you like my writing, I’ve got another story I just finished in MPSIMS here
Thanks again!

You think it’s hard to become a mod, you oughta see what you have to do to rank out of it…
…hmmmmm…

Oh joy! I can hardly wait to see this one!

In an opulent room in the Secret Headquarters of The Mod Squad, JillGat sat, illuminated only by the bluish flickering light of the television.
She stirred only slightly, hour after hour, lost in her thoughts. Suddenly with one swift motion, she drew her revolver and shot the TV. Andy Rooney’s face exploded in a very satisfying fireball. " ‘An Hour With Andy Rooney’??" JillGat muttered “What the Hell were they thinking?”
She began to pace the room. “I’ve got to get out of here. I’m going stir-crazy. But…they need me.” She walked over to the window and looked at the pine-forested vista beyond the SDMB-HQ walls and said softly “…and they’ll never let me go.”
She stood there, looking at the outside for hours. As the moon began to rise, she reached a decision. Grabbing a few of her prized belongings, a few…surprises (just in case) and her official coffee mug, she crept to the garage, slipped into an Astin-Martin convertable and slowly, quietly, left the compound.
JillGat had a bad moment when the fortress doors didn’t automatically respond to her signal, but Odd John, the security guard poked his head out and said “Goin’ for a moonlight drive, Miss Jill? Sure is lovely out tonight.” and opened the door.
Several miles beyond the gate at a gas-station, her heart pounding, JillGat pulled over and opened the hood of the car. Searching carefully, she removed several bugs and tracking devices. She flushed them down the toilet and drove on.
Days later, after abandoning the Astin-Martin, taking buses and hiding out in Motel Sixes, Jillgat began to plan…
She spent months working odd jobs: running a clinic in Bangladesh, shooting down rogue MIGs over the Sudan, foiling international jewel thieves who were trying to steal the crown jewels, and as her humdrum daily routine progressed, she finally began to relax.
She was laying on a bed in a suite at MI6, after having helped them with a minor problem, thinking that at last, she might be free. But something was nagging at the back of her mind. Her well-honed instincts told her that something was amiss. But what?
Then Coldfire walked in.
He held his hands up in a gesture of surrender “Don’t shoot!” he said hastily. “I hate it when people shoot me!”
The revolver didn’t waver a fraction of an inch and JillGat said in a gruff voice “What? What do you want?”
“We need you! Ed himself asked me to get you. We had to go to Cecil to track you down. Manhattan is on a mission. It’s crucial that he not be interrupted, but that leaves GQ under-moderated. Ed asked me to propose that you come back on a interum basis, with the guarantee that you can leave again at any time. We really do need your help: you know what GQ can do to a person. Do you really want Chronos to have to go it alone?”
Jill lowered the gun and sat on the edge of her bed. “No, dammit” she said. “But how do I know I can leave again?”
Coldfire grinned a cocky, almost boyish grin. Reaching into his jacket he pulled out a letter. “It’s from Cecil. He promised that you can leave whenever you want.”
JillGat hefted the letter as though she was weighing it. Coming back meant a lot of work, “But” she thought “The last few months have been getting kind of dull. Rescuing stranded cosmonauts from the MIR is peanuts compared to dealing with the Teeming Millions on a daily basis.”
She grinned crookedly “Ok, I’m back. I needed a challenge anyway.”
