Any club that lets you socialize basically. Book club, sports club, etc. Are they listed in the yellow pages under ‘clubs’ or something? I would figure that is just bars and i’m not interested in bars.
You mean something like the Legitimate Businessmen’s Social Club of Springfield?
Do they offer atkins friendly refreshments?
If your city has an alternative newspaper, they usually have listings of lots of clubs and meetings of all kinds.
Some local newspapers have a “what’s going on this week” column in the Sunday paper.
Definitely can’t help you there. The only social clubs I’ve ever been to charged rather exorbitant dues for only one-hour memberships.
The social clubs in my town are listed in the local paper. There is also a hotline for support groups, events and all sorts of community services that also advertises social groups. Perhaps your town has one as well. I’d also check around at stores that sell the implements of the group you are interested in (ie: yarn stores for knitting clubs, libraries or book stores for book clubs) and see of they know of any groups in your area. Also local colleges usually have clubs and groups that are open to the public (at least mine does). Good Luck!
Check your local newspaper website for things like, “101 Things to do in Helena” or go to the local Chamber of Commerce and ask them. You don’t list a location, but in some cities the C of C or newspaper will put out an annual booklet of social or service organizations.
I actually belong to a “legitimate businessman’s social club”.
It’s a Sons of Columbus chapter located in the Mon Valley, just south of Pittsburgh. My grandfather was a full-fledged member, when he was alive. Most of my family belongs, to some degree or other.
It’s an Italian-American fraternal organization. Full voting members must be sponsored by other full members, and be at least partially of Italian descent. Social members need only be sponsored by a full member.
My brother is a full voting member. I’m only a social member, what with not living in the area anymore. My father is only a social member, too, because he’s not Italian.
Membership gets us admission to a private, somewhat more clubbish and friendly bar with stunningly low-priced drinks. Regular price for a domestic bottle of beer is $1.25. The club also sponsors bingo, card games, cookouts, trips to Atlantic City, football on big-screen TV’s with a full spread and other fun things for members.
BTW, dues for the above is $10 for the first year, and $5 for each year afterward.
