How do you like your shredded wheat?

Me: with berries and milk (no sugar).

I love those really big ones. Like, those huge ones that you can only fit two into a bowl. With soymilk. Nothing else. I hate those frosted mini-wheat things. They taste like pure sugar.

Shredded wheat, the big ones, with sugar and hot milk.

The big ones, crushed up, sprinkled with sugar and ice-cold milk.

Hm. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve had the small ones. I’ve had the national brand (big rectangular ones) and the Trader Joe’s brand (big circular ones).

When I was a kid we used to call those “hay bales”.

Post Shreddies. Just with milk, no need for sugar. Good, good whole wheat Shreddies.

Mmmm, Shreddies!

I like the large Shredded Wheat biscuits, but sorta strangely. My mom would put hot water on them and let it sit for a minute, then drain it off and put on milk and a little brown sugar. Like hot cereal when there wasn’t time for it.

My favorite way used to be baking the big ones in a toaster oven with butter on top until warm and browned, then put in a bowl with sugar and cold milk. The hot buttery warmth and cold sugary milk was incredible together.

were incredible together.

grrrr…

I live in a major US market. Can’t get classic shredded wheat at all. The small knock-off versions taste horrible. (How can you screw up shredded wheat?)

I envy you.

It seems that now adays cereal needs to turn milk chocolaty or have marshmallows or be colon blow. The middle ground has been lost.

Hate the shit. I throw it to my chickens. But I fully support your right to eat as much of it as you can hold.

I can’t actually say that I’ve seen them around here, but then I haven’t been looking. Now I’ll have to look.

The only thing I ever used shredded wheat for was to get my rabbit to put on some water-weight to make the minimum to be registered. Like many things I fed her, it didn’t interest me at all as food.

Frosted, with ice cold milk. Mmmmm. Don’t care if they’re bite-sized or not.

I hate shredded wheat. It tastes like spackle.

Proper big ones, in cold milk, leave for 2 minutes 44 seconds to get to correct soggyness factor. No sugar or fruit. What’s this with hot milk? Hot milk on cereal --You people are weird .
Weetabix same but with shorter soak time, eat quickly before it turns to mush.

Mmm . . . spackle

I had this version this morning, with milk. Not a huge shredded wheat fan, but this is alright.
