I am looking to eat better and I imagine a healthy cereal is probably better for me than the Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwiches I often eat, but which one? Any suggestions on what are good not sugary breakfast cereals? Thanks.
I’m a fan of Shredded Wheat (the big biscuits). One or two of the large biscuits in milk tastes very good. Whole grain, high in fiber and it keeps me full.
The great thing about cereal is you can generally mix any two or more non-sugary ones together and not get bored. I like mixing various flavors of Chex together. It’s like Chex mix but without the candy.
I’m absolutely addicted to Special K Protein, so are my nieces. There’s just a hint of cinnamon to it that gives it an extra kick.
I put blueberries or raisins on it. If I’ve got some, I’ll mix it with plain Greek yogurt and Splenda and it’s SO GOOD.
I can’t stop eatin’ it every day.
Regular old Cheerios. Good for your cholesterol levels.
special K with the chocolate bits and strawberries … or just the K with choco bits
Mini wheats and Smart Start. Not sure that either are really “good” for me, but better than some of the alternatives.
I also like the frozen oatmeal Trader Joe’s sells
I’m a big fan of Raisin Bran. Post, preferably.
Honey Bunches of Oats. With or without Almonds.
Raisin Nut Bran.
Raisin Bran, which I’ve loved since I was a kid.
I like to mix grape nuts and mini wheats. It’s a tasty combination.
I get the store brand mini wheats. very little calories and they fill me up without having a big bowl of grape nuts.
All Bran Buds
Exactly this. It might be a texture thing for me. Love these two cereals. In fact, they are the only ones I buy. Unless I am making Rice Krispie treats.
You might like Bear Naked.
It’s the texture, and just the right amount of malt flavor.
I’m reasonably fond some of Kashi’s selections, specifically their GOLEAN Crisp!. Lotsa fiber, lotsa protein.
Seconding Grape-Nuts, but they’re not for everyone. I always preferred mine hot, w/ a drizzle of honey–there’s something about the flavor of G-N that harmonizes nicely w/ honey.
