Trader Joe's Raisin Bran

Trader Joe’s Raisin Bran has 8 grams of fiber per serving. And I have big servings.

Just sayin’.

And when you get hungry for a snack in the afternoon, enjoy some chocolate-covered prunes.

Earlier this week I had a hankerin’ for raisin bran cereal. I was at Trader Joe’s, so I bought some of theirs.

Now, I’m not normally a cereal eater. When I eat cold cereal, it’s usually with slices of banana or a spoonful of jam if I put anything on it. In general, I think raisin bran cereals have too many raisins in them. Kellogg’s claims ‘two scoops’ per box. I tend to prefer non-raisin bran flakes if I want bran flakes. Sometimes though, you just have to have raisin bran. Trader Joe’s Raisin Bran was very crunchy, not as ‘crispy’ like Kellogg’s; crunchy. It seems to have a stronger taste, too. Some people might not like it. Me? I like either one. It’s a nice change from corn flakes.

I just won’t eat them on commuting days.

Too bad it tastes like kitty litter.

Man that’s some bad stuff if you are expecting good ol raisin bran.

It’s definitely not Kellogg’s.

But it certainly doesn’t taste bad!

Meh. Bran Buds by Kellogg’s has 13 grams of fiber per 1/3 cup serving. I eat a full cup every AM, and have a half cup with my plain yogurt at lunch.

FIber is like exercise for one’s colon. My colon is my strongest muscle!

So there.

No shit?

Are three enough? Are six too many? And do you remember the days when Americans ate so little fiber that they were afraid to eat Trader Joe’s Raisin Bran before a long commute?

If I can make my commute in two and a half hours, I’m good. But if someone is changing a tire at the side of the freeway… It gets a little… ‘anxious’… stuck in traffic in the express lane with no exits or anyplace to ‘go’ even if I could get off.
