How do you link to a news article or wiki so it shows up in a box in the thread?

I’ve used the hyperlink doo-hicky to link to news articles, but it just comes up as a link. I’ve noticed other posters posting to news articles and it comes up in a box in the thread, with the headline and first paragraph.

How do you do that?

Just paste the link on a line by itself, like this:

Yep, just post the bare naked URL alone on its own line.

If you quote a post (like this one) you can see how they did it.

Note that the target webpage must contain OpenGraph or oEmbed HTML tags for this to work, but luckily that’s fairly common on the open web these days
