How do you prefer your soft drinks?

Coke, from a bottle, unrefrigerated.

Chilled, glass bottle, no ice, with a straw.

Just like my beer. Out of a can.

Over ice with booze in them.

I think pop just tastes better out of a can. I chill them in the freezer to get them really cold.

I usually drink cans because I like the 12 ounce size. The only time I usually drink a bottle is when I’m driving because then I’ll stretch it out for an hour or so (plus I can recap the bottle and avoid spills).

I don’t generally refrigerate soda. I like it cool but not cold. I keep my house pretty cool so I just keep a case of soda on my kitchen counter and drink cans out of that.

I pretty much always drink out of the can or bottle.

I don’t care where it comes from, but it’s gotta have ice.

Fountain pop is watered down piss, except when it’s not and it’s more syrupy that cough syrup. I know supposedly Pepsi and Coke set the ratios, but I never got the same mix twice. I’ll pay more for a 20ozer rather than some garbage fountain drink. Besides though ice machines are notoriously filthy. Some owners go *years *without cleaning them.

no no no

put your pint beer mugs in the freezer, then pour the chilled soda into the chilled beer mug.

No dilution and keeps it colder than a can or bottle out of the fridge

Somebody can give the thermodynamics equation, assume a 1 lb mug at 10* and 12 oz soda at 35* and ambient temp at 72*

Pretty much every soft drink is better dispensed from a fountain. I will avoid Diet Coke in bottles or cans, but from a fountain, I find it pretty agreeable.

I prefer my soda close-to-hand.

I only use ice if it’s not already cold, and the, I use as little as possible. I don’t need it to be near-freezing, and I dislike the way it dilutes the drink.

Plastic half litre bottle, refrigerated. Sugar free due to type 1 diabetes.

Really cold can with a straw.

I find in fountain soda the ratio is often off and I can tell. I prefer cans. Either cold from the fridge of over ice. From the can for taste over ice to quench thirst.

Because a far better predictor of how the drink will taste is the carbonation ratio (i.e. how sharp or flat it tastes), not a few extra cc’s of melted ice water. Soft drinks already have a significant ratio of water in them-that percentage isn’t going to change significantly from melted ice, unless (as you intimate) it just sits there for 30 minutes. In any event, I usually will pour half of the bottle, drain the cup, and then pour in the rest. And >I< don’t understand how people can stand warm soft drinks-as soon as the condensation hits (as soon as you take it out of the fridge) a lot of heat is going to enter the container.

With ice cubes in a cup, poured from any source.

I choose from a can alone and from a bottle alone but refridgerator in which it was chilled must be set very cold. I don’t like any drink at room temperature, the colder the better. When buying drinks from a convenience store I’m always looking for the cold spot in their case, you know the one where you can see a tiny bit of ice forming in the bottle - that’s the bottle I’m looking for.

I’ll do other versions as many have listed here. but my fave is IBC root beer served in a chilled mug.

Second place would be a Cheerwine (can) poured into a glass. Damn fizzy!

With any kind of ice, in a cup, from can bottle or fountain.

Glass bottle, pulled from the freezer just this side of frozen. If it slushes up a bit upon opening, well, that’s just fine.
