Using my reclining belt.
I like spooning a lot. I’ve spooned successfully with some women, and dream of spooning as well. It has never been a sleep related issue, however. Some of the suggestions here would change that ( or, if I was married to a spoon instead of a knife, COULD change that, but I digress ).
Spooning to me has always been about tender affection, skin to skin closeness and warmth. A nice way to have some pillow talk, and get woozy. NOT a nice way to sleep, IMHO. If I have been spooning and start to fall asleep, I retrieve my missing arm and fall asleep against her, or turn over -gasp- and fall asleep rump to rump. I’ve always enjoyed the face-up spoon, which is me laying on my back, she’s on her side up against me. One leg thrown over my hip, her face against my shoulder or chest. A nice way to fall asleep.
Or, it was a long time ago when last I spooned that way. It also facilitates the delivery of back rubs and hair caresses- two dreamy things I used to do way back when.

Buy a dog… or better still, a sheep… you’ll need to bath it first… but they’re great for snuggling.
At least that’s how it starts.
I prefer the old, me on my back and her draped over my body style. It doesnt have trapped limbs and it allows you to be face to face in the morning without rolling over.
Right, the spooning technique is actually one of the hardest things to get right, and perfecting the method involved is something that far too many people dont take seriously enough to practice.
What you want to do is ensure that your legs are bending at exactly the correct angle - Ive found that angle of about 80 degrees to your body is normally optimal; any more acute is likely to be uncomfortable and cause needless moving around in the night, while a more obtuse angle is unlikely to fully maximum your optimal snuggle potential.
Next, youll need to make sure that your arms are in the right place. The arm thats at the ‘top’ can obviously extend all the way over her and end up in a position where it can fondle her breasts with minimal unneeded movement. The other arm is a bit more difficult to position - I normaly find that its most comfortable to spread it above your head, and over her head as well. This lets you relax more efficiently, and minimises the risk of having to disrupt the spooning during the night due to getting cramp.
Hope this helps!
