How do you usually carry your cell phone?

In a bag unless I don’t have the bag with me, then in my shirt pocket.

A lot of my colleagues used to consider my phone holster sort of business-dorky.

iPhone, front left pants pocket. Back when I had a Treo, I tried wearing it in a holster but I kept getting caught on things as I walked around, got up out of my chair, in/out of a car, etc. It ended up being more of a hassle than a benefit.

Not wrong, just looks a bit goofy. I have a friend who carries a work and personal phone on his belt. All he needs is a cape and he’ll be Batman.

Breast pocket or jacket pocket.

I used to use a belt holster until the clip broke. I haven’t got around to replacing it and mostly use my shirt pocket. If I have a pocketless shirt it then goes into my pants pocket.

If I remember to have my phone with me, that’s almost always where it is. If it’s cold enough to wear a jacket, then it’s more likely in the inside chest pocket.

More often than not, though, it’s in my laptop bag, pining for me to pull it out and charge the battery. I am definitely not married to my phone.

Female, city transit user, in my cross-body bag. There’s a zip-open compartment on the backside with many pockets. The phone lives in the top pocket. I do not use it in public as much as possible, unless I’ve cased the bus/train car I’m in and feel safe enough about it. It seems like in half the reported muggings around here, “the victim’s cell phone was taken.” I just don’t find it important enough to take calls on the sidewalk most of the time. I’ll call back once I get home or inside wherever I’m going.

At work, it’s either in my bag on “silent” (at the ER) or on my desk (at my desk job). At home, it’s on the end-table in the living room, or charging on the night stand.

90% of the time mine is plugged into the charger on my counter. No one calls me, ever and really the only action it sees is to tell me I have email; possibly a “tweet”. (Very very rarely I’ll miss a call from work wanting me to come in on my day off 'cos I sleep 'til noon and the phone is in the kitchen.) When I DO remember to bring it worth me, I work in a hospital and wear scrubs so I carry it in the left front pocket of my scrubs top.

Front right pocket of my pants.

With a pocket with a shirt, it goes in that pocket. I hate ringing phones, so it’s always on vibrate, which never picks up through my bulging thighs filling my pants.

Without shirt with pocket, it doesn’t matter, so I shove it in a side pocket of a jacket or some pants pocket.

Depends on what I’m wearing. Jacket pocket today. Sometimes shirt pocket, sometimes trouser pocket.

Outside purse pocket.
Now where my purse is, is a totally different question.
It might be in the closet. It might be by the back door. It might be in the car. It might be by my desk.
There is a very good chance that it’s in a different place than I am.

Shirt pocket in winter; on a case on my belt in the summer, when I wear pocketless shirts.

I put other pocket. Pants pocket is a close second, but only when I don’t have a shirt or jacket pocket.

Purse if I’m carrying one, pocket if not. Assuming, of course, I’ve remembered to pick the damn thing up.

In the cell phone pocket. Some pants have a pocket mid-thigh that’s perfect for a cell phone. Dickies actually calls it a cell phone pocket. When I shop for pants, this is an important feature. At least for things like work pants, shorts or generic jeans.

I see lots of girls who put them in a back pocket. How so they not keep sitting on them and breaking them?

Shirt pocket. I am a bit surprised this is not more common.

My cell phone lives in my car. On very rare occasions, I’ll stick it in my purse when I go somewhere. But since it’s the most basic phone out there, and old, only good for phone calls, I feel no need to carry it with me on a regular basis.

My husband can’t understand why I don’t want a smart phone with me all the time. I can’t understand why I would.

My GF does this. Her phone is all kinds of fucked up.

No offense to anyone here, because I love each and every one of you (except that one guy… he knows who he is), but is anything dorkier-looking than a cell phone holster?

Edit: I used to keep my phone in my back pocket sometimes before I had a touch screen, and it never caused any problems to the phone. Sure, I sat on it a lot, but it was a closed flip phone in direct contact with what’s basically a cushion. I am a little weary of cracking the screen on my current phone which has less protection, so I keep it in the purse.
