Better than walking around with a fucked up phone, which is what it would be were I to carry it in my pocket. The way I see it it’s not just a phone I’m carrying around, but about $300. I wear my holster in front under my shirt and no one sees it unless I pull it out. I always know if it’s there or not and I never miss a call or message. Can you say that about the phone in your purse?
Besides, some phones are so big that it can’t look any better to walk around with a rectangular bulge next to your crotch.
I love my Otterbox Defender case for my BlackBerry, but they aren’t durable, and I’ve made more warranty claims on it than I can remember, to be honest. I’ve been carrying it in my pocket for a month or so now, but I do still need to get a replacement.
I suppose theoretically it can fly out of a zipped or buttoned up part of my purse without my knowledge, or I can lose my purse entirely, but as good as I am at losing things (I’m absurdly skilled at this), I’ve never lost an entire hangbag, or had its contents leave without my permission.
My hearing is for shit these days so I have to have the phone in a pocket so I can feel it buzz. Even with the ringer turned up as loud as it will go, I won’t hear it if there’s any ambient noise. (I blame a Motorhead concert I went to in 2000.)
I don’t carry a purse anyway, but even if I did I think I’d still have to have my phone in my pocket.
Front pants pocket, and like many here, always the left. Everything else (especially keys) always goes in the right. I’ve scratched my phones too many times, and this way I always know with a touch whether or not I have my phone on me.
I’ve put it in my purse occasionally but I always end up in a panic, thinking I’ve lost it.
Anyway, I don’t really care. No way would I put it in a back pocket, and a front pocket would be too uncomfortable and make the phone unavailable when I’m sitting.
Also, I just always like knowing where something is. It’s been my experience that when people keep things in different places while doing or wearing different things are the folks that can never find their stuff.
I mostly just carry it. If I have pockets, I’ll use one (usually front) but as a woman half my pockets don’t have pants. At work I just leave it on my desk, or carry if if I need it where ever I am headed. But I don’t actually leave my classroom that often.
I had to vote for the only “other” choice that was there.
I carry mine in my cargo pants pocket. I don’t think it counts as pants pocket because most people don’t wear cargo pants. I have a Droid X and that fucker’s huge
What else is in your pocket? Are you carrying gravel around with you? My iPhone has been perfectly safe in my pocket and without a case or screen protector for three years now.
I’ve got a lot of shit and I get a lot of calls. Money clip, change, keys, pocket knives, pens, lighter, card holder, some other things. I’m not going to stuff all that shit into one pocket so I can free the other one for just my phone, which is bigger than an iPhone. This is not a good look for anybody.
280 votes and only one person was honest enough to admit that s/he usually carries the phone in their hand. I’m sure it should be something more like 25%.
Chick with an iPhone here. It goes in my right rear pocket if I’m wearing jeans or scrubs, right side pocket if I’m wearing khakis, and purse if I’m wearing pants with no pockets (ugh). Since I tend to wear my jeans and scrubs at or not far below my actual waist, my phone is not actually getting squished under my butt when I sit but riding somewhat above the seat. I also have cough ample padding, so it has never been an issue.
Really like having the little side phone pocket in cargo pants; I’m getting away from wearing conventional jeans for just that reason–it’s a little too bulky to be comfortable in a front pants pocket. Also don’t like the idea of a belt holster; that’s for construction workers wearing Dickies or Carhart’s and packing a Sprint phone using walkie-talkie mode
