And yet, here we are, in 2016, shortly after the republicans release a political platform espousing ex-gay therapy, bans on gay marriage and gay parenting, and enabling religious discrimination against homosexuals, hearing (although hopefully not listening to) a gay guy who said he “chose” to be gay and wishes he could be straight - taking one stupid, homophobic position wasn’t bad enough, I guess, he needed both, regardless of how internally inconsistent he is - say “we’re your gays” to a crowd containing a non-trivial number of people who want gay people barred from the country. Classy. Real fuckin’ classy. Hey asshole, you know why LGBT people tend to vote democrat? It’s because most of them haven’t internalized as much self-hatred and bullshit as you have, and aren’t interested in supporting a party that wants them to not exist.
This same self-hating homophobe wants to lead a gay pride parade. Through a Muslim ghetto in Sweden. In other words, the same stunt SD (a Swedish hard-right party) tried to pull a year ago. He clearly hates homosexuals a whole awful lot, and benig a homosexual himself, this would imply some serious self-hatred. At least the Log Cabin Republicans had the basic self-respect to condemn the republican platform. Or maybe he’s not really all that bigoted, and he’s just lying for attention. Either way, he’s a terrible fucking person.
I’d say he mostly doesn’t believe much of what he says. He’s discovered a profitable niche, being a token right wing gay. He’s milking it for all its worth getting paid for his speaking tours and articles. He’s a shameless opportunist. How does he sleep at night? probably the same way that Martin Shkreli famously answered “ambien”.
…miraculously the OP doesn’t even touch on half of the disgusting and horrible things that Milo has done in the last couple of years. He was one of the central figures in the “gamergate” kerfuffle over the last couple of years and he has been both directly and indirectly been responsible for the harassment of hundreds of people. A real nasty piece of work.
It’s not like he knows what “intersectionality” means, either. It is the concept that one person can face multiple types of bigotry, and that different forms of bigotry are interrelated.
I think he thinks it means “minorities can’t be Republican.”
BTW, I could actually see a way to be a gay Republican without this bullshit. He would just disagree with the gay platform, but agree everywhere else. It’s the fact that this guy is (pretending to) agree that makes him particularly odious.

Yeah. I mean, I get the Log Cabin Republicans. I think they’re fucking idiots, but I get them. They think the full package of republican policies outweighs their opposition to gay rights. He can be gay and conservative fine, but more than that he’s trying to convince other gay people that Trump is better for them because only ‘Daddy’ Trump will protect them from all the big bad islamic terrorists. Yes he seriously refers to Trump as Daddy.
Funnily enough plenty of other gay people have a problem with the idea of embracing the GOP given their recent party platform they adopted. Those people have every right to call Milo a self hating abhorrent shit stain. And they do…
People in general are pretty good at putting up with a lot of cognitive dissonance and compartmentalizing opposing morals, values, sexual tastes, and aspects of their personality inside their little brain. It makes me think of disgraced former Colorado megachurch pastor Ted Haggard who was preaching the evils of the things like drug use, homosexuality, adultery, etc. in front of his congregation, while having sexual relations with a male prostitute and using methamphetamines,
I mean talk about living a lie. I imagine the guy must have had a lot of self-loathing and shame but apparently he was able to go about his daily life, he only admitted some of what happened after the other guy went public about it, and even then if you ever read any of Haggard’s quotes about the topic you can still read a lot of obvious self-delusion in what he says.

Also, Milo works for Breitbart. A big part of Gamergate was Breitbart ginning up anti-feminist fervor ahead of Hillary’s expected presidential campaign. It’s not a coincidence that anti-feminism is
