How does Milo Yiannopoulos exist, exactly?

He has announced a press conference today at 3 to discuss his future with Breitbart. I would love it if no one showed up to cover the troll looking for more attention.

I would love it if no one but Breitbart showed up. It has symmetry.

Kind of baffling that this guy thinks his losing his job (or not) is worthy of a press conference.

I mean, if it comes to that, I don’t really improve the world much, either. Hopefully, that’s not the standard.

But mostly I hope Milo doesn’t kill himself because, while I think he’s destructive, I also think he’s personally damaged, and now we know why. I hope he finds help and I hope gets peace, just as I hope that’s what people hope for me.

Simon & Schuster were always only doing it because they thought they could make money from it. I’m not sorry to see it blow up in their faces. I don’t fault them for wanting to make money in a capitalist system nor do I fault the people who wanted to boycott S&S over it.

I don’t object to Milo publishing his book, either, even if it were a defense of NAMBLA. (I haven’t read his book so have no real opinion on the content.) He’ll probably self-publish (I expect he needs the money.) I’m fine with that.

I still don’t get this argument, since it seems like an unknowing advocacy of the exact kind of restrictions on free speech that at the same time it appears to be trying to criticize. Milo’s critics absolutely, 100%, have the right to challenge and criticize and organize boycotts against publishers and venues who try to make money off his bigotry. Milo has the absolute and 100% guaranteed right to say whatever he wants in public (short of violent threats and normal/constitutional speech restrictions), and so do his critics, including “if you publish Milo’s work, or profit off his speaking, then I won’t do business with you any more, and I’ll advocate that others also not do business with you”.

All of that (which does not include any violence) is allowed. Saying any of it isn’t, or shouldn’t be, is contrary to free speech.

He should take his writing to a baker and demand it be placed on a cake.

Yeah, and if that baker does hate cakes on a regular basis, he wouldn’t have any grounds to refuse him.

Sure – if there are bigotry bakers out there, they wouldn’t be able to refuse him, since their business is cakes for bigotry.

EDIT: Ninja’d!

Mmmmm… bigotry & hate cake.

Nope, I quoted you accurately. You are on record in this very thread as complaining about the intrinsic “arrogance” of people trying to “dictate” to others whom they may invite as a speaker.

And now you hypocritically don’t want to apply the same standard to the “arrogance” of conservatives trying to “dictate” to the ACU whether they should keep Yiannopoulos as one of the invited speakers at CPAC.

So you’re moving the goalposts to pretend that all you’ve expressed concern about is violence at protests and/or some alleged obligations of public universities in particular. Sad!

Everybody has the right to express their opinions.

Nobody has a right to someone else’s private platform. For instance, as much as the world would benefit  from my being on every network and cable channel for a half-hour every evening to share my extensive :stuck_out_tongue: wisdom :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: with everyone, I have no right of access to those platforms.

The former sure gets confused with the latter with great regularity.

And in this Internet era where anyone can find multiple ways of exposing audiences of decent size to at least a snippet of their opinions, it’s harder than ever to be bothered when some nutcase is denied access to some platform or another.

Milo is still awesome in my book.

Milo, who is not even American, has done more for free speech and his work against political correctness than the entire useless impotent GOP has done for decades. His numerous talks on college campuses have done a lot to expose the fascist left for what they truly are.

I’ll side with Milo any day of the week over the Never Trumpers that have been out to get him.

Evan McMuffin, the idiot pinhead and failed candidate is supposedly behind some of the smears and is connected to the groups that have been orchestrating attacks against Milo.

Those Never Trumpers are worse than liberals, and that’s saying a hell of a lot, because I don’t exactly think very highly of liberals.

They will get what’s coming to them in due time I would assume.

Guess what!!!.. Fuck off.

Has there ever been a better and braver gay person than Milo?
I would be hard pressed to think of who that might be.

Milo puts all cookie cutter, predictable, not so very bright and indoctrinated leftist gays to shame.

You’re a fucking idiot. At least try to be an informed one: Harvey Milk.

No, he’s a fucking troll. And not even attempting to hide it at this point.

oh. so. edgy. i. might. cut. myself. on. the. so. edgy.

You are exactly right. I want people not to commit suicide not because their lives improve the world but because I want them to be at peace. It’s not for what it does for me, but for what it means for them.

Pretty much. There are a few shameless opportunists IRL who make money being what on an Internet message board would be called a “troll”. Just like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh and their ilk, Milo is about as genuine as the fake plastic vomit that you can buy at a novelty store.

Would you buy his book?

He would now have to find a new publisher of course.

I have seen some of his talks on youtube, so I do already know what he’s about, but my answer would be, perhaps, if I found the content to be interesting.
