I don’t understand why it is okay to dump on straight white males all day. Just wondering how this went there.
Please. Tell us more, recent arrival, about the conspiracy against the cracker man.
Well for starters its easy to use that racial slur there. I do not think at all that there is a war against the “cracker” man, I just can not grasp why it is so casually accepted to say things like that. In another context against a different group there would be outrage, or it would at least be frowned upon. Regardless this isn’t the right spot for any of this so I’ll just wander off.
Because of history – there isn’t a history of oppression and discrimination against white people (and especially against white men). For most decent people, slurs against groups that have been historically oppressed or brutalized have a deep emotional tie to slavery, or genocide, or brutality, or some other great evil. There is no such tie for slurs against white people – they don’t evoke these hugely negative events from the past.
That makes sense to me and I understand what you are saying, but I still think that respect and common decency is important. Either way, I just don’t support slurs towards any group of people.
The article linked to above describes the “Privilege Grant” started by Milo Yiannopoulos. This is explicitly a college scholarship program offered only to white males.
I did not realize. Thank you for that!

That is a reasonable approach, I think.

Kinda makes you wonder how often you might be leaping to conclusions that white men are being dumped on all day, doesn’t it?
I appologize.

It’s so hilarious when racists give their excuses for why it’s okay for them to be racist, but not anyone else ![]()

Yes, only we are allowed to leap to conclusions that certain races and genders are being dumped on all day, not you!

???
What are you talking about? What did I say that’s racist, and how did I excuse it?
This is the racist who sparked riots at UC Berkeley last night. I keep seeing people not understanding that freedom of speech also includes protesting other people’s speeches.

No, that’s not entirely correct.
If your protest literally shuts down my opportunity to speak, then the goals of the free speech ideal are not met. And from a legal perspective, when your protest morphs from peaceful to the use of Molotov cocktails, your protest is NOT included under the rubric of “freedom of speech.”
Administrators decided to cancel the event about two hours before the Breitbart editor’s speech. UC Berkeley said it removed him from campus “amid the violence and destruction of property and out of concern for public safety.”
Black-clad protesters wearing masks threw commercial-grade fireworks and rocks at police. Some even hurled Molotov cocktails that ignited fires. They also smashed windows of the student union center on the Berkeley campus where the Yiannopoulos event was to be held.
This is known as a “heckler’s veto.” It’s NOT part of free speech.
No, really. How does this person exist?
People pay to read what he writes. People pay to see others debate him. What he does pays.
I keep seeing people not understanding that freedom of speech also includes protesting other people’s speeches.
Indeed, but first you must let the other people speak.

Call it what you want, it’s still free speech.

The protests were; the violent actions (performed by a minority of the protesters) weren’t.

Brought to you, once again, by the same cadre of black bloc shitwipes who show up to every protest to wear masks and break windows and generally Fuck Stuff Up in the name of nothing-in-particular, out of whom the shit deserves to be pounded without mercy, and who could probably do with a wee bit of napalm, or if you really want to scare the gluten-free stuffing out of them, a threat to take away their Twitter accounts and trust funds.
Nice job making Milo fucking Yiannopoulos look like the reasonable party, you incurable goddamned morons.
