How does one get rid of music records; are there places to sell them?

We are getting ready to renovate our house, so we are clearing every thing out and getting rid of what we don’t need. My mom has a ton of old records and wants me to get rid of them somehow. Is there any sort of place to sell them (other than ebay, I can’t go listing all 100-odd records). I’d rather not trash them, because that would seem a waste (even though there’s a lot of Johnny Mathis and Neil Diamond I would love to watch being carted away). Does anyone know what one does in this situation?

Ebay is your friend

Hey, what all ya got? If you have anything I want, I’d be willing to drive down to pick it up.

If you have any 45’s I may be interested in buying a few off ya.

Check to see if there are any shops in your area that specialize in old second-hand records. They would be more than willing to buy them from you.

Used record stores? Of course, they might not want them either. Who buys Johhny Mathis and Neil Diamond anyway?

RE eBay, try breaking them into groups by performer and selling them that way. Perhaps there are some rarer, desirable records that will move the bunch.

Good luck.

Most independent record stores carry used records. Try Manifest, near the Citadel mall.

While it’s possible that you can get some decent money for some of the records, I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort to sell them to a used record store. Is there a charity near you that does regular sales of books, records, etc.? Give the records to them and write it off on your taxes.
