… without scrolling to the bottom of the thread?
You mean like how do you get to the end of the thread quickly? If you’re on a computer (as opposed to a phone) grab the slider on the right…the slider next to the posts, not the slider for the browser, and drag it down to the bottom.
You can also just click at the top or bottom of that scroll, or even on the date/time at the top and bottom of it.
(grumbling) Teach your grandfather to suck eggs, why dontcha?.
That’s fine if there are six posts in a thread, but it’s utterly useless if there are a thousand. It leaves me scrolling for twenty minutes. You get to the top by clicking on the title. Is there a similar shortcut to get to the end?
Drag (click and hold onto) that slider, and pull it all the way to the bottom. In my experience, it usually takes two tries to get it to actually go to the most recent posts, but it does work.
It shouldn’t. I just picked the first big thread (Any WWE fans in the audience, with over 9k posts) and I scrolled from top to bottom in as much time as it took to move my mouse a few inches.
To be clear, you should be grabbing the slider and moving it, not using a scroll wheel on your mouse or, again, not using the slider for the browser window, which is what I suspect you’re doing if getting to the end of a long thread takes more then a second.
Look at your OP. See the « last reply » thing? Click on the icon of the poster and it takes you to the last reply.
On the thread slider on the right, the bottom ‘number’ will tell you when the last post was entered. Like ‘1m ago’ or ‘1h ago’, or ‘Jun 25’. Click on that number and you will be taken to the last post.
My first post was for when you’re in the OP. If you’re in a thread later on in the thread, click on the box with post numbers at the bottom right.
In addition to opening the slider, it brings up a box on the left that says « Jump to ».
Click in that box and it opens to an option where you can fill in « post # x of y ».
Type in « y » and it takes you to the last post in the thread.
On my PC, hitting Ctrl+Home or Ctrl +End takes me to the top or bottom.
Ctrl Home works but Ctrl End doesn’t. Some of the others offered here work or not. Weird computer and weird OS (HP and Win 10).
Thank you.
Alt [down arrow] also works on my Chromebook.
(Just including it here in case someone else is asking the same question at some point.)
I just hit the “end” button in that little 2x3 keyboard zone. PC keyboard.
I Hate and Fear this Brave New World!
Command+down arrow.
Just end is all you need, no other modifiers. Press ? to get a complete list of keyboard shortcuts.
To enter a topic at the bottom (she went in through the out door), try clicking or tapping the reply count in the topic list.
My Chromebook doesn’t have an ‘end’ key. Neither does my iPhone.
Does it have a # key? There’s another option.
Shift # opens the jump box I mentioned erarlier. Thanks!
As pointed out in a previous thread on the subject, under each OP is a button marked “last reply”; click it and your browser will be instantly transported to the bottom of that thread.
