I currently live approximately 2,773 miles from where I was born (per Rand McNally’s shortest driving distance).

I have lived in places that were farther away from my birthplace. The top three:

5,675 miles (Bad Soden, DE)
5,817 miles (Carouge, CH)
7,945 miles (Bang Na, TH)

So 2,773 doesn’t seem that bad. Plus all of my immediate family now lives within about 1000 miles of me, so it’s almost like a reunion. I consider wherever I’m living at the moment as my hometown. It makes it much more convenient.

1379 miles. My children, on the other hand, are .6 miles from where they were born.

I live in Amsterdam, some 120 kilometers from my place of birth, Goirle. It’s a small country, and a one hour drive.

Currently, 1088 miles from my birthplace in Wyandotte, Michigan. Shortly, it’ll be about 9850 miles, Wyandotte to Harcourt, Australia.

From UC San Francisco (yes, we do too have one) to my doorstep… 2.7 miles.

10.8 miles.

Autochthonous!

Mapquest says it’s 2617.4 miles from my house in PA to Westwood, California. I would have a more precise measurement, but I’m too freakin’ lazy to look up the UCLA Medical Center address.

2408.76 miles, one country and a world away… From Windsor, Canada to the San Francisco Bay area…

129.7 miles.

We live 1.6 miles from where my daughter was born, though

Actually, False God quoted nautical miles (~1850 metres), which are longer than miles (~1610 metres). This puts him some 374 km ahead.

I’m 8998 miles from my birthplace, which bumps me into the top 5.

Total Est. Time: 31 hours, 33 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 1928.45 miles

Although for most of their lives, my brothers lived less than a quarter of a mile from the hospital they were born in. (Opened after I was born)

Well, according to Routenet I live 422.5 km (262.5 miles for the metrically impaired) from my place of birth. It’s about a three and a half hour drive if there are no traffic jams on the Autobahn.

According to this site it is 349.9 km or 217.4 miles as the Nazgul flies.

I think I belong in the top 5: from Sydney, Australia to Columbus, Ohio, is 9469 miles, or 15238 kilometers. But that’s not the best I’ve done in my lifetime – I lived in Leeds, England, for 7 years – that’s 10537 miles or 16955 kilometers from where I was born.

2,285 from Sandy Hook, KY (thus the user name) to Carson City, NV.

According to Autoroute I live 192.8 miles away by road, 146 as the crow flies. The closest I’ve lived is 11.1/8.76 miles.

729 miles from Batesville Ark to Raleigh NC. I’m a southern mutt.

For about the past year I have been living 0.83 miles (according to Mapquest) from the hospital building where I was born. However, if the legend on the map is correct, it is only 0.31 miles as the crow flies.
