How geeky are you, really?

I probably would have scored quite a lot higher if I actually liked people a bit more. I’m not very social - even with other geeks - so I don’t get credit for what most geeks would traditionally do. All that stuff about geek parties and clubs sounds cool but I’d be too shy to go. :o

Here is something I was just doing that would probably boost my geek rating quite a bit - I was just up on the roof with a laptop with a wireless network connection remotely controlling my main computer so I could calibrate the wind direction sensor on my new weather station.

Does this mean I can look down on everyone else, or that you’re all looking down on me? Hmmm…

24.26036% - Geek-- Thats pretty good, i thought it would be lower.

3.5503% - Poser

Meh.

11.43984% - Geekish Tendencies

haha that test took forever to scan through , i thought it would be a quick lil thing. Amusing though. I am pretty technologically ignorant so I’m not surprised my % was low.

Only a 28.9% Total Geek.

Mostly 'cuz I don’t do TV so I flunked all the TV questions :frowning:

4.3 Poser

Damn, that’s too high for my liking.

Not to shabby. Or utterly pathetic, depending on your POV.

LARP = Live Action Role Playing. This was one of my fields of expertise from 1989-1993, when I was Chief Science Officer aboard two Federation starships. And yes, I was also Vulcan.

While I’m here, I’ll take this time to mention that my score was only 20.9073%, “Geek.” I was a little surprised, since while my roleplaying days are past, I’m still a major Trekkie (could be considered off the wall with it in fact) and a science & math nut. I know I’m not Geek Goddess material by a long shot, but I’d thought “Total Geek” would’ve described me. Ah well.

No, you don’t have to trade biology for computers. Biology, or rather microbiology, is MY favorite science of all and while I appreciate computer tech (and find my computer geeky boyfriend’s explanations fascinating), I doubt that I’ll ever find computer viruses more interesting than double stranded RNA viruses.

So I suggest, why not ADD computer-thinking TO your bio-thinking?

Re sci-fi: From following the advice of people who’ve recommended various books in this genre to me based on my psychotic overenthusiasm for Star Trek, I’m here to tell you that IMNSHO very little sci-fi outside of Trek is worth bothering with.:

Hmmm, dressing geeky? Well, right now I’m wearing my favorite T-shirt. It’s black and on the front is a rat with a flea and it says, “Black Death – European Tour 1347-1351.” All this in bright orange, as if in parody of a rock concert T-shirt. On the back is a listing of cities hit by the Black Death of the 14th century. Cool huh? If you want one, go to http://www.northernsun.com.

I didn’t do too well there either. Other than Star Trek, TV doesn’t interest me…well, Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, History Channel, that kind of thing would, but I refuse to get cable TV…

and now that Star Trek is dead (do NOT try to tell me that that “Enterprise” series is actually Star Trek or I’ll be really upset!), I’m relegated to my immense Trek video collection when I feel like plopping down in front of the tube. Fortunately, that keeps me happy, since most of the time I’d rather be reading, writing or surfing the web.

Kinda’ what I figured. I don’t look like a geek, I don’t go to cons and the link, and I don’t game, but I’ve got a NeXTStation, I’ve phreaked, and I’ve been on the Internet since 1987.

link=like. I’ve been very typo-prone lately.

If you choose to make the Farscape cast in lego men you shall have the power to rally the geeks of the world into an unstoppable army.

How very odd, this was precisely my score, yet far higher than I expected.

I have to say I object to the characterization of several items, e.g. having read sci and historical texts outside a classroom/school context. Work related reading for example. I don’t consider myself a geek at all.

I’m posting this from within Basilisk, a Macintosh emulator, which I’m running in Windows NT Server within Virtual PC, a PC emulator, which I’m running on my PowerBook. An emulator within an emulator.

And what makes me geeky is how proud and happy I am to have it working so well that I can go online with it.

This guy just didn’t ask the right questions. TV – baah!

Now I have to go beat up my ex-fiance. Why do I have to lose points just because the jerk decided he didn’t want to get married? And he probably would have eventually dragged me to one of his gaming cons, thereby costing me more points. My geekhood tends to run more toward books and computers, but I have seen most of the movies listed too. And was forced to admit that I’m hot for Legolas.

25.04931% - Total Geek

Which I guess is right.
I mean, I have a tan.

Mine was about 31% - Total Geek. A little lower than I expected.

I was, however, the only one I knew who could answer “I know all about Jeanine Salla” in the positive. I have my pride.
