Monty Monty Monty… you trying to send him back to Trump’s side?
Trumpgret is good because we can assume those people won’t vote for him in 2020.
Calling them names now is counterproductive. Be glad they saw the light and let it go. For the sake of the future of the country.
Hell no, ThelmaLou. Unless they also understand and internalize the reasons they did it, they’ll still be susceptible to doing it again, the next time somebody tells them what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear. They’ll still be susceptible to appeals to deplorability. Giving them praise just helps them avoid that painful process of self-awareness and de-deplorabilitization. Congratulate them if you want, yes, but don’t stop there.
yes, welcome back Aldi…and pass on what you have learned.
Why they voted for him and why they now regret it are, of course, essential for them to understand (and for us, if we want to get over it).
If they voted for Trump for one reason only–he’s not Hillary–that bears examination. I agree that those who were taken in (and are still being taken in) by his lies and dumb promises about anything and everything–yeah, they’ll be susceptible. In fact, they are beyond hope and beyond redemption.
I believe in giving people positive acknowledgment when they do something I consider positive. And, right, “don’t stop there.” But consider that they had to figure out for themselves that Trump is a destructive loser and ignored us on that topic for MONTHS and ignored Trump’s reputation for YEARS. Telling them now that they’re stupid and late to the party anyway is, as I said, counterproductive. We want to encourage people figuring stuff out for themselves, since they aren’t likely to pay attention to strident insults from people who still have no respect for them, even after they publicly admit they were wrong, kwim?
Is there a conflict between those statements? :dubious:
Pretty sure **aldiboronti **is a Brit, btw - so his Trump-cheering has been merely recreational.
Yeah, there is. Some people are not capable of changing their minds. OTOH, some people figure things out on their own and change their minds on their own. Neither side is likely to be influenced by insults (although there may be exceptions to that).
He says he was “having fun” in Puerto Rico.
True story.
Jeez, you’re going drive him back to Trump with remarks like that!
He’s an Aussie.
Ah, Australia, the Texas of the Pacific.
You’re not alone. Reuters/IPSOS polling of rural Americans: http://tmsnrt.rs/2yuVIun (from the Reuters article Trump’s Popularity Slipping in Rural America).
I wonder if they have something similar for suburbanites.
Do you really think he has left Trump’s side? I, for one, would like to see a clear and accurate recital of what Ms. Clinton did or did not do for a voter to intentionally vote for the obvious disaster instead. Without that explanation, all the “trumpggretting” is pure BS and the next election will be no different.
Just how insecure and big-ego’d do you have to be, to publicly brag that your IQ is higher than a subordinate’s?: http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/10/politics/donald-trump-forbes-interview-rex-tillerson/index.html
Imagine how trivially easy it would be to goad President Fucking Moron into an actual dick measuring contest.
But Trumnp’s IQ is HUUUGGE!
It will of course never happen, because it’s yet another case of Trump thoughtlessly sounding his butt-trumpet, but it would be interesting to see how he’d fare in a (legitimate, professionally conducted) IQ test.
Unexceptionally, would be my guess. How embarrassingly so, is the question.
Yeah, this is astonishing.
Wait, no it’s not. It should be.
Meanwhile, though, Obama put his feet on his desk, so he’s just as bad.
Jolly times for the White House staff, believe me: White House insiders paint a grim picture of Trump's increasingly volatile behavior
Even worse, he didn’t use the servant’s entrance.
Now THAT’S clearly FAKE NEWS.
