Trump “jokes” about the freakin’ War of 1812 in a phone call with the Canadian PM: https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/06/politics/war-of-1812-donald-trump-justin-trudeau-tariff/index.html
The most shocking part of this story: that Trump knew enough history to know that there was such a thing as a War of 1812 and that the White House was burned during it. I have to give him more credit.
Not so shocking, he seems to think the burning of the White House was the inciting incident of the war, not the American attack on York.
He probably thinks the reason there’s New York is that the Canadians destroyed the old York.
Burning the “Whitehouse” (there really is no name for that building) was simply an example of England’s close working relationship with us at the time.
What’s the name of that thuggish guy in the Simpsons, the one who grabs something and yells “York!”?
Wow. Does she know which side we were on in WWII?
Based on people she is working with in the White House, she must assume it was the very fine and good nazis.
There were good people on both sides.
And bad people.
We were directly engaged with the German government in 1944 in a way that’s rarely been seen since.
Certainly we were involved in a cooperative activity, for some values of cooperation.
I fully expect to hear Sanders (and/or Conway) quote that very soon.
When we landed on D-Day, there were lots and lots of Germans there to greet us.
Yes, exactly! When it was time to get together they showed up. Not like some unpatriotic football teams (who were NOT the Patriots) I could mention.
And there were fireworks. Lots of big, beautiful fireworks!
Finding a quiet place to sit on the beach was a bit of a pain tho, all those protesters! SAD.
There was the biggest best military parade. Both sides showed off all of their newest military hardware and even had demonstrations of how they worked.
The victorious U.S. effort in World War II simply would not have been what it was, were it not for Germany.
Once more taking the axe to Obamacare.
I swear, this man claims to be a builder, but he can only break things. No repairing or replacing in sight, only breaking and destroying.
Fundamentalists must be thrilled with this anti-Christ they’ve elected. All his actions seem aimed at spurring along the four horses- the four horsemen can probably barely hang on.
