While I am enjoying the image of Trump hanging in a public square — his lardy ass means his fat head would be ripped off his shoulders at the drop — I’d rather see him on bread and water in solitary confinement for the rest of his life.
Understood, but I wasn’t trying to suggest that their security clearance covers all branches, agencies, bureaus, etc. of the federal government. If their clearance is revoked on purpose, I wonder how likely it is that they get clearance of any kind. That was what I was getting at. Trump and his supporters (Rand Paul) kinda tipped their hand, committed a Freudian slip, whatever you want to call it - the act of revoking security clearances, if they’re able to do it, is intentionally sending the message that critics of the administration won’t work in the federal government, or in support of it.
They might be upset, but guess what?
They’re on the Trump train now. They’re not getting off until it goes over the fucking cliff.
They’re mad and they’re finally expressing concern because they’re beginning to hear it from their constituents, but they have to weigh those constituents with the more important ones: the guys who write their campaign finance checks.
I predict Trump will offer to throw more money at the problem. He’ll offer $20, 40, 50 billion – he’ll offer whatever it takes to shut the farmers the fuck up.
But here’s the thing that needs to be remembered: this is already an admission that Trump miscalculated his trade war – like fucking badly. He thought the Chinese and everyone else were going to cower in a corner with fear. He has hired yes men and ideological cranks who reflect his worldview. He has nobody around him who can educate him because he is uneducable.
What does it all mean?
It means that if we give Donald Trump another 1-3 years in office…he’s going to completely destroy the economy, and probably everyone one of us (in America) reading this will feel the sting of it somehow. Trumponomics is going to be an unmitigated disaster for all time.
I think the Republicans are looking to see how the voters react. They don’t care how people feel; they only care how people vote. It doesn’t matter how you say you deplore the things Donald Trump is doing and how you wish somebody better was President. If you vote for the Republicans you’re telling them you’re willing to accept what Donald Trump is doing. And that tells the Republicans they can do any damn thing they want because you’ll vote for them anyway. If they know they own you, they don’t have any reason to respect you.
So if you’re a Democrat, vote for Democratic candidates because they’re Democrats. And if you’re a Republican, vote for Democratic candidates this time to tell the Republican party they can’t take your vote for granted. If they want your vote, they have to be better Republicans than this.
Well, if you’re using a lamppost, it’s more of a “hoist from the ground” thing than a drop. The head ought to stay attached.
I guess I should add that it’s all academic. Capital punishment is wrong always and everywhere; and so is lynching.
I’m beginning to worry that a guy who paid $290,000 to have sex twice might not be the deal-maker he told us he was.

I agree, but the point of mentioning those particular “leaders” is that they were permitted to do their crazy/destructive/corrupt thing for quite a while–until their subjects decided that ‘respecting the leader’ was no longer a principle worth upholding, since it meant watching the nation go to ruin.
The ruled have their limits, and rulers who assume their power is absolute, sometimes find out they were mistaken.
