I think he was imagining his funeral - huge portraits of him around the room, gold eagles surrounding the casket, 100, no 200 flags. The best funeral in the history of funerals.
He’s perfectly capable of picturing a massive funeral with thousands of people weeping, a 50-foot-high portrait of himself in a golden frame, every single world leader AND all his political enemies getting up to the lectern to say “we should have appreciated him more, he was truly the best man the world has ever known”…and himself sitting there, enjoying it.
He doesn’t ever plan to die. But he would like a super-special funeral, all the same.
I don’t know. I like how asahi posts all the time on a message board about how it’s a useless waste of time to post on message boards. It’s “meta”.

He chose an event where a sizeable amount of those in attendance are not allowed to, or else are unlikely to express bad things.

Well, as one of the comments on the signatures clip points out, DJT always refers to Trudeau as “Justin”. And to Macron as “Emma Nu Ahl” and so forth. It’s one of his favorite, repeat, are-you-five-years-old putdowns, refering to other people by firstname while expecting them to call him “Mister”. I don’t think I’ll ever meet the guy, so help me God, but I might call him that. Exactly that. “Mister”, with nothing behind.
I appreciate that Andrew “Dice” Clay called Trump “Donny Trump” when Dice was mocking him for thinking he could be President.
But just “Mister” is interesting.
I think that once he leaves office (if not sooner) most of the country should just refuse to acknowledge they’ve ever heard of him.

Spoiler for the end of Pan’s Labyrinth , involving a vicious tyrant and his hopes for the future:
I find myself thinking of this fairly often, since November 2016.

If we needed any more proof that Trump considers the job of the AG to be his personal lawyer, here it is.
Barr has a generally good reputation as an honest man, a good lawyer and a straight shooter. Hope he can and will preserve that rep in the days ahead.

Boy! If there’s one thing Trump enjoys more than lying, it’s accusing others of lying.
And boy! If there’s one thing Trump enjoys more than being dumb, it’s accusing others of being dumb.
This is a Dick Cheney pick, I’d stake my life on it. Probably the best we can hope for at the present time.

Yeah, but it’s a pretty dam long line to get in to sue Trump.
Bring a tent and sleeping bag.
The new America.
Perhaps a reformulation of the famous Ben Franklin quote: “He who would trade essential bedrock concepts of democracy for temporary financial reprieve deserves neither”. Jesus fucking christ.
Unfortunately, I am morally opposed to Dick picks.
