Also in the quick and dirty stage, but it looks like my taxes went up a LOT. Same income, same deductions…but I live in California and mortgage interest and property tax were big deductions in the past.
Only if he spent it on strippers.
Personal exemptions are gone.
But… but… Michael Cohen’s not available to pay them off for him anymore!
I don’t know if mine went up “perse” - but thanks to the changes and me counting on the same exemptions as previous years, I owe a bit. My fault for not checking sooner, but.
Also - the change to the standard deductible compared to my itemization seemed to be a wash over all - but it still feels like I’m losing the ability to deduct mortgage interest, etc.
But the standard deduction doubled, more than what 2 seniors on a fixed income would have gotten via the personal exemptions.
I’m not arguing that some people pay more, just curious how that particular poster, in that particular instance, is paying more.
Couldn’t take charitable deductions because they raised the ceiling. But the big difference is that they eliminated the income exclusion, and rolled it into the standard deduction. Whatever averaging method was used ended up in a net loss for us and a net gain for people with higher incomes, as they immediately became beneficiaries of the increased standard deduction.
I’m not familiar with “income exclusion” except for foreign income exclusion. Is that what you are talking about?
Exemptions, maybe?
Sorry: ‘exemptions’, not ‘exclusions’. Line 42 used to say that if line 38 was less than $156,000, you used a multiplier to come up with an amount that knocked your taxable income down a significant amount. Last year, that reduced our income from $104K to about $70K. That’s no longer there, and the increased standard deduction falls short by $800.
He’s still President.
…So, relatively speaking, today has been pretty quiet.
That’s pretty much how I feel everyday. It was kind of funny at first. And yeah, every now and then I get a chuckle from his inept stupidity. But overall the damage done to the Office of the President is all too real, and simply isn’t funny anymore.
Now he’s derided his own Intelligence Community chiefs as “extremely passive and naive.” Way to build morale, there, Mr. President!: Trump chastises intel chiefs after they contradict him on Iran and claims of foreign policy success | CNN Politics
“There” economy?? <sigh> :dubious:
Igor : “There Wolf”
He has the best words.
Were!?
Well, Putin is texting Shit-Gibbon everything Putin wants Shit-Gibbon to think Shit-Gibbon knows. It’s different from what, not the Deep State, but the people Shit-Gibbon appointed, are telling Shit-Gibbon. So who is SG going to believe? The answer is, of course, obvious. Toss in some Faux News fictions, and we might as well furlough the entire FBI, CIA and NSA and all those other intelligence gathering agencies. Don’t need them with such strong alternate fact sources.
Well, they are. Except with regard to Russia and N Korea, where they’re paranoid maniacs.
