How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

I suppose a fine craftsman in the late 1800s, dipped in rare metal, could be both guilded and gilded.

Lawrence O’Donnell pointed out last night on his show that Ivy League schools do make it publically available if a person graduated with honors–cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude.

Obama apparently graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law. Trump graduated with no honors and O’Donnell said this indicated that Trump was in the bottom half of his class at Penn.

What is Trump’s real record at Wharton?

Yeah, Trump likes to boast that he (“probably”) graduated first in his class, which is something that someone would remember, and when someone says they “went to Wharton”, I (and probably everyone but Trump and his base) have taken that to mean the graduate business school and that they have an MBA.

Too bad Fred Trump wasn’t born during the Gelded Age.

Vox is out with an article on the 1888 tariff issue, for those who want some background:

The 1888 tariff debate Trump can’t stop talking about, explained

Trump’s side won, and it was an unpopular disaster

Many universities do, as it’s usually in the graduation ceremony programs. But the regulations around release of transcripts and other student records are, to the best of my recollection, extremely strict - basically, you need either the written permission of the subject or a subpoena to get them.

That’s true, but it illustrates how dumb Trump is because: 1) no honors for him, so not “first in his class”, 2) it’s easy to prove Obama graduated with honors, and 3) both of these facts are verifiable with publicly available info.

I’m sure the irony of Trump calling out for Obama’s transcripts because Trump’s a racist who doesn’t believe Obama was qualified for Ivy League schools while having his own transcripts (even from high school) buried under threat of litigation escapes Trump and those of his supporters that are bigots.

And, supposedly, the only reason Trump got into Penn in the first place was that his brother was friends with an admissions director.

I think I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again, but I have to admired the restraint of people at Penn and Fordham (?) and the IRS and anyone else who has anything potentially very embarrassing on him and it doesn’t leak, especially this far out. It’s hard to admire anything in these days of whine and posers. But good on them for being honorable.

If I worked some place where I could find something he wouldn’t want me to find, I don’t know that I wouldn’t be trying to find a serious reporter’s secure cloud server.

Our institutions have been failing, but it’s nice to see persnickety bureaucracy can sometimes hold.

The DNC announced they will not allow Fox News to host any of the Democratic debates in 2020. Individual 1 retaliated by saying he will not allow “the Fake News Networks and the Radical Left Democrats” to host any debates in the 2020 general election. Funny, I didn’t know he had the control of the general election debates.

Let’s just have all debates on NPR radio. Donny Dope will think that he OWNS National Public Radio since he owns the whole country now. He’ll fall for it.

Two of the things on which Americans have, as far as I can remember, loved to badger everybody else on “we do it better than you do!” are citizenship and the First Amendment.

The Trump administration is doing its best to make both subjects moot.

It’s very irritating, not being able to be irritated at someone’s traditional claims of superiority. I’m a traditional gal and I’d really appreciate it if y’all could go back to being traditionally-irritating rather than staying on the current track of “has the colicky carrot-faced baby done anything particularly irritating today?”

:smack: At least I can keep there/their and brake/break separate.

There’s a tradition amongst day traders in financial markets to get their scrotums gilded when they earn their first million-dollar bonus.

Hence the name: “Gold Man-Sacks”.

Makes you think different of someone who works for Penny’s.

As one of the candidates who is going to be in the general election, he basically does. If he decides he’s not going to participate in any debates that aren’t hosted by Fox News there isn’t a lot anyone can do about it. Other than call him out as a coward.

Oh, man, I tried to read that (can’t bear to actually watch or listen to that… THING… infesting the White House), and about four or five items in I had to bail out, to stop the rest of my synapses from burning out.

Not sure if his actions are a physical defilement, a trampling, or a bit of both.

It’s a Trumpling. You can’t be defiled any worse than that.

“Trumpling” sounds like it’s one of his kids. “Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, the President’s eldest Trumplings…”

This doesn’t rule out your defilement observation, it should be noted.

WHile I aplaud the attempt to use that bit of code against our ‘president’ - you do realize that was deemed unconstitutional along time ago, right?

The flag code was deemed unconstitutional, or the penalties for violating the flag code were deemed unconstitutional?

If the latter, then yeah, and I did not say that he should be legally penalized for such.

If the former, then it’s not “along” time ago, it’s something so very recent that I’ve not heard of it, and nor has google, and you’ll need to provide a cite.

Breaking the flag code, while playing “patriotism” is what I was pointing out. Did you think that it was appropriate? Did you think that it showed patriotism?
Also, as an aside, I think that means that that flag needs to be retired now.

I think the flag would rather be put to sleep than live with the memory.
