How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

This is basically the only argument I’ve heard against this action, and it’s fatuous because it doesn’t address the actual rights and wrongs.

It’s like sitting by and watching a guy beat up a kid and giving excuses like: If I stop this, must I intervene in all physical assaults? or Last time I saw something like this I didn’t lift a finger, therefore I must do the same now.

OK, we’ll use that metaphor. There are other ways to address it. You don’t need to, every single time, swing your pistol around and put on your million-dollar golden-brass knuckles and beat the bully up.

Regardless ofwhether or not you agree with bombing, there was no reason to use 59 missiles at $1.4 million a pop other than president scumbag jerking off all over the military. What a useless piece of shit.

Wow, only $1.4 million a pop? Why am I feeling like I just got a deal?

Curse you Blank Slate!

I’ve heard suggestions that Trump told the Russians about the attack in advance, that they may have told the Syrians, and that the Syrians had time to prepare by relocating planes elsewhere. Does anyone know if any of this is true?

In particular, did he tell the Russians before he told the U.S. Congress?

Yes, this is all over the MS internet media. We essentially dropped nearly $100 million of ordnance on a deserted airfield*. And yes, the Russians were informed before the US Congress.

  • (I’m okay with this because I don’t like blowing people up as much as, say, Brian Williams does. Still, seems pricey.)

Yes, but it’s not as nefarious as it sounds. In a process called “deconfliction” (is that a word?) the US and Russia keep each other apprised of their activities in Syria so we don’t accidentally shoot each other.

So we were required (or at least, it was good practice) to tell the Russkies “incoming!” Did they tell their Syrian friends? Wouldn’t be surprised.

Bolding mine. Regarding the nuclear thing - the month is young. He’s just getting started. I like your point about him leaving office early though.

Couldn’t we time the deconfliction thing just a little bit better though? Telling them far enough in advance that we ended up spending millions on destroying an empty base takes the teeth out of our response.

That’s assuming that it was the intent to degrade Syria’s ability to make war on their citizens, which I think is doubtful. The actual intent was to demonstrate that we’re willing to fire off a lot of expensive munition if Assad does something stupid and criminal; and we’ll do it again, so don’t mess with us.

I think the intent was to boost Trump’s cred and sagging numbers, distract us from the circus and to stir a buttload of new defense spending in the coming years.

Trump Considering Shakeup of Senior White House Team

But will take no responsibility for putting together a terrible team to start with.

or for encouraging the infighting by playing reality tv host in the White House. Amazing how the same antics that brought more advertising dollars in when you were on a network that would do very nearly anything for attention don’t work when you’re actually responsible for getting shit done.

Look at these Mickey Mouse motherfuckers huddled around their little table in some Mar-a-dodo, basement closet “situation room.”

He woke up.

Maybe in the midst of an international crisis, he should consider staying at the White House instead of running off to his resort.

The thing that makes it even worse is there wasn’t even enough damage done to the airfield to keep them from using it again the very next day. Almost $100 million spent for no result except snowing Trump’s supporters again.

I hope to god that’s the only result. What’s much more likely is that Trump will see a spike in popularity over this (both because a competent person might have done the same thing, and because people always rally around the President during a military action), and will conclude that a military adventure should be his go-to strategy whenever he needs another boost in the polls.

Let’s hope for a speedy impeachment.

Well, if he’s decided he’s going to go all war-president, shouldn’t that be the end of weekends in Mar-a-Lago? I mean, if he had any sense of responsibility over the military actions he orders, he’d want to be near the White House/Pentagon/State Department so he could stay on top of things, right?

Right? So he won’t go further than Camp David, huh? If he was responsible, and all.

An interesting word, “if,” these days.
