Yeah, probably. Dammit.
Does his Twitter account still hold the same amount of sway over his followers if it’s posted from Saudi Arabia?

The Saudis would send him back to the States in a box - possibly multiple boxes. They may like him, but business is business.
Where do you suppose he might go?
I’ve always figured he’d favor the House of Saud over Putin’s Russia. Putin has awful ways of dealing with people who owe his oligarchs money, whereas Mohammed bin Salman’s country is rich enough he doesn’t seem to mind so much.
The weather in the Middle East is certainly better. His orangeness would stick out like a sore… um… orange in Russia.
Why would the Sauds risk their relationship with the U.S. to take him in? America can offer them F-35s. What could Donald Trump, private citizen offer?
A fair point. But the same could be said of Russia, and they know they’re in the dog house with the incoming administration.
So, again, where do you suppose he might go?
With COVID, countries would have a perfectly reasonable justification for not letting him in aside from the quite obvious “Trump is disgusting” reason that’s also very reasonable.
“Sorry Mr. Trump, you come from a country with a raging pandemic due to the incompetence of its leadership, so we can’t let you in”.
Nowhere. There’s nowhere a former U.S. President can run if the United States wants him back. No country would be willing to risk war to keep him. He’d have to go underground, like Bin Laden, and do you really see that happening?
In my fantasy, Trump is taken in by one of the Crown Princes in SA - lured in with the promise of golden toilets and anything else his tasteless little heart desires. He’s kept in an opulent (tacky) apartment with one-way glass and no door handles on the inside.
Friends of the prince are allowed to come in and view the pet president through the glass while they laugh and point.
No, of course not. He’s a coward through and through. But would we risk international unpleasantness over him? A war in the Middle East?
If he’s stuck here in the USA, then all my wildest fantasies for his twilight years become distinct possibilities. And that shit never happens.
I just want him sitting in Ad Seg at Rikers with his Twitter fingers twitching for a cell phone he no longer has.
Individual 1 calls for Governor Whitmer to be locked up.
Aye; he’s leaning into it hard.
Donald Trump is not even among the first several billion people I’d listen to tell me about a moral duty.
I doubt they see many oranges in Russia. One shudders to think.
If he does flee to SA, I’m claiming credit for coining the hashtag #GreedyAmin .
LOL, oooffff, good one!!
As usual, it’s always projection.
I don’t know. Kim Jong Un might take him in. Although, I guess it’s more possible that he might troll Trump for being a gullible dumbass with their “love affair”.
That sounds about right. What a trophy to show off to other dictators!
There’s a problem with every escape scenario, of course. If Trump is hidden away in a lavish display case in S.A. or anywhere else, how can he become a major figure in the anti-Democratic media world? Will Rupert Murdoch take on the risks of giving him an Internet TV show in some sort of untraceable-path-of-false-front-IP-addresses caper? That seems doubtful, particularly since the Murdochs know that Trump is basically uncontrollable.
His only way to become a media star while escaping prison is to possess a threat so formidable that, in exchange for not activating the threatened action, he’d be given a complete pardon for all crimes, not only federal but state.
Trump would first think of using the threat of setting off nukes, but what he may not realize is that once he’s out of the Presidency no prosecutorial entities would honor any “deal” he thinks he made by threatening to blow Chicago and Chappaqua off the map. They would indict as soon as his thumb was off the launch-codes keyboard.
So what other leverage could Trump possibly use? A threat to post nude photos of himself? That would be horrible, but surely it’s not enough to get him a deal to skate on all his crimes. I mean, we can always shut our eyes.
Without leverage, he will have to flee to a secret location, given the realities of extradition and the desires of no-extradition-treaty nations to do business with the USA. The only nation that fits neither category is North Korea. Will Trump settle for living under the thumb of the violently vindictive Kim Jong-un? Is Trump stupid enough to think he’d survive, there?
I think the desperation he is showing during his campaign goes from fear of what his creditors will do once his money and power run dry. There may be no place safe for him to run to.
“The Democrat party you once knew doesn’t exist,” Trump told voters
Why, yes, Mr Bond Trump, but that would be because the “Democrat” party never existed.
One thing that occurred to me has to do with his Secret Service detail. My knowledge of their duties and how they perform them is mighty slim, but my general perception is they’re always nearby, 24/7/365. Maybe not while he’s sleeping in the White House, or working in the White House, but when he leaves it, they’re only steps away at all times, I gather. So, when and how is he supposed to make this getaway to a waiting plane? Is the guy who never makes plans suddenly gonna pull a Mission Impossible and disappear? HE may even have it in the back of his mind to vamoose rather than face prosecuters, but I imagine he wouldn’t get very far, if he even had the guts to try.
