How has Former President Trump pissed you off today?

The question I had was, since former presidents are given a Secret Service derail for life (if I recall correctly), how would that work in a prison? Even a minimum security prison could be dangerous for an ex-prez.

^^ See this thread:

Further on the Secret Service angle: Trump certainly hasn’t given them any reason to feel well-inclined to him, has he? Not just the gratuitous exposure to COVID infection, either; I gather from my reading he treats them pretty much like so many servants, plus he’s socked their budget with overpriced bills for using his privately owned facilities. I can’t see them doing anything to aid him in fleeing the jurisdiction.

Then there’s the national security apparatus that he’s devoted so much vitriol to demeaning. What odds the professionals of that world have considered the likelihood of the Don trying to bolt and quietly put in place tripwires and safeguards to stop that from happening?

Trump brought his own derail to any conversation; nobody ever had to give him one.

“Turn the cameras off, take an extended break; don’t worry, Mr. Epstein Trump will be fine alone for a short time.”

Threadwinner.

See post 8787.

Bin Laden’s current accommodations have plenty of room for Trump to join him.

Won’t somebody think of the fishies?

What steps need to be taken before someone’s passport is preemptively confiscated?

I’d think an arraignment.

What’s wrong with just locking him up?

Okay, bail.

Flight risk.

“Flight risk” is a step that needs to be taken before someone’s passport is preemptively confiscated?

If Trump does flee the country, I’m still thinking Russia is probably the best place for him. I don’t think that Putin is all that worried about pissing off the US by granting asylum to a tax cheat any more than it did by blatantly interfering in the election. Putin still presumably wants to keep up its work dividing the US, and what better pawn than harboring true president in exile, who was ousted in an engineer fake election, and is a target of political prosecution at home. some 30% of the US will buy the story and he might even be able to get a subset of the Republicans in Congress and the Senate to support this idea.

Also having Trump under his thumb is a great way to pump him for any scraps of useful intellegence he might have some how run into something as it passed through the vast emptiness that fills the void between his ears.

Even out of the presidency Trump is still VERY much useful to Putin.

If on January 19th, Trump declares that he wants to take airforce one on a spin over to Moscow, is there any way to stop him?

Hell, let’s find an old military clunker plane that’s about to be decommissioned and just give it to him. Spray paint the interior gold, put in a thingie that holds his phone when he’s on the toidy, and done! After all, by definition, any plane can be designated “Air Force One.”

For him, until noon on Jan. 20, at least.

He’s whining that he’ll “have to leave the country” if he loses the election? Hey, a good leader, a good businessman is pro-active. He can leave now!

Does anyone here really think Turmp is going to serve any jail time, even at a Club Fed with his own presidential suite and round-the-clock protection? I just don’t. I’m not saying I don’t think he merits it and deserves it because he totally does, but this kind of feels like a couple of years ago when everyone was waiting for Mueller to save the day…not going to happen in other words.

Even if he did get jail or prison time, it would probably be very luxurious and easy and he’d be protected from the stuff that regular prisoners go through.

I think if he is voted out now, all investigations into him will be quietly drawn down and Turmp will go about his life the same as he was before he was president, now with extra volume because he’ll say yeah, I know all about this stuff and Biden is doing it all wrong and blah blah blah. There very well could be some violence spurred by his words, but he will deny having fomented it.

Some people here think he never even meant to actually win in 2016, just wanted to use his campaign to gain extra publicity and make more money. Now that he has wrung the taxpayers dry for 4 years, if he’s voted out of office he will just use his experience to make more money and no one will stop him.

I would like to see him go to prison.

The thing I most expect him to do is start his own TV channel, which will be more popular than Fox News and 1000x worse. It will also set up a legacy so his children can run for public office. We may see a Donald Jr. on the ticket one day.

One thing that’s for certain is that he’s not going away.
