“I’m afraid we’re rather poorly stocked in Cantarellas at the moment.
Could we offer them a Pinot Noir from a Box instead…?”
Make sure you fill that glass up to the rim!
Yeah, baby!

My friends: the President of the United States and Dr. Biden. The Vice President of the United States and Mr. Emhoff.
First thing I do (well, did) every morning is to check to see if he’s gotten us into war.
Hear, hear!
RE: Buck_Godot’s proposed constitutional amendment about pardoning. They are all good. I would add language that all pardon’s must be made public, and that nothing of value can be provided in exchange for the pardon.
So although today was not trash pickup day, just as I saw Air Force one flying away, I took out the trash. Sure it was a meaningless gesture, but it felt good!

As I mentioned in another thread, the correct usage is “disgraced former President”.
From his biographer:
Out of office, off Twitter but still a petulant douchebag:
Wow. A statement of Trump’s that I can agree with.
Still more projection than a hundred screen movie theater.
oh no. trump is attacking mitch and it is hurting the republican party. please. stop.
For the short term, Mitch’s Secret Service detail will have to be on their toes. Trump is likely to escalate the MitchHate as much as he can given that he lacks the Twitter and Facebook platforms, and some dedicated worshipers are likely to try to please their greasy god by trying to take Mitch down by violence.
Taking Mitch down by anything else is unlikely to succeed, though. He wouldn’t have made his anti-Trump statement after his acquittal vote unless he believed Trump’s influence was going in one direction: down, down, down.
As time passes, Mitch will go on working toward becoming Majority Leader again, and Trump will have lost major face among his dimwitted followers----because Mitch is just fine, and all Donald can do about it is fret and fume.
Followers of bullies require that their bullies be powerful. And Trump’s newly-declared war on Mitch, which he will lose, will reveal just how powerless he really is.

For the short term, Mitch’s Secret Service detail will have to be on their toes…
Mitch is guarded by plainclothes Capitol Police, not the Secret Service, but I take your point.

oh no. trump is attacking mitch and it is hurting the republican party. please. stop.
I think a good strategy for the Democrats right now would be to start supporting Mitch in some symbolic yet non committal way, such that the Republican party schism deepens, rather than stand on the sidelines and let things happen more slowly and naturally. They need to actively help push Trump further to the margin - this will accomplish a couple things: ensuring Trump continues losing power and influence, and allowing more space in the Republican party for members to distance themselves from Trump and start getting back to their core conservative positions (not necessarily ones that I support, but at least that are not whackadoodle) as well as the ability to compromise with the Democrats.

A statement of Trump’s that I can agree with
I’d bet my entire 401k that Trump didn’t write that. Dour? Espouse? C’mon, who do they think they’re kidding?

I think a good strategy for the Democrats right now would be to start supporting Mitch in some symbolic yet non committal way
Imma stop you right there, pal. I get what you’re saying about potential political advantages to such a strategy, but I think they are outweighed by the fact that McConnell is a hypocritical unprincipled turd, and Democrats should not align themselves with him.
We can openly endorse any particular thing that McConnell says that we actually agree with, that’s only reasonable. But Democrats should save their active support for people and policies that are worth supporting.
In particular, let us stay the hell out of the Republican Party reality-TV soap opera that Trump is so thrilled about engaging in. On this side of the aisle, we are grownups with a lot of important work to get done while the Trumpublicans are doing their drama-queen schtick.
How about supporting the Republicans who voted for impeachment in a more than just symbolic way?
