Am I understanding correctly that this Arizona “audit” is focused on signature matching? Because if so, that seems to open yet another door for GOP ratfuckery.
Or what?
Seriously. By what authority <cough, cough> are they even doing this? And presumably that authority could give them an extension until 2024, amirite?
Well, duh.
In real life, here in the fact-based world, mail-in viting the signature cards are not stored with the bllots. because ballots are secret. Once the signatures are verified on sealed ballots, the ballots are removed and counted, and the envelopes are not saved!
Signing for in-person voting is equally “lost”. The signature to vote isn’t kept with the ballot!
So verifying signatures, even if they verified the umpty-million of voters’ in Maricopa country, does nothing to affect the outcome! Any signature that these “auditors” find to be invalid could have been for trump as well as Biden. There’s no way to tie them together.
Now of course, if this is the first step for Gov Douchy to declare the entire election invalid and just have the GOP arbitrarily pick a winner (gee, wonder who that would be?), well, if they are going to rip up the constitution and abandon democrary, that’s what the courts are for. Or, how civil wars start.
I kinda doubt Gov. Ducey will be on board with that.
My emphasis in the quote—I believe it’s important to do as you have done here, and refrain from giving these anti-democracy activists the dignity of the words “audit” and “auditors.”
Actual audits must follow generally-accepted standards, which do NOT include the absolute secrecy these clowns are currently enjoying.
What’s happening in Arizona is not an audit. It’s a partisan-political operation.

(And your points about the absurdity of throwing out ballots based on a supposed ‘mismatch’ of signatures that CANNOT be connected with those ballots, are excellent.)
You are 100% correct.
And they are only “auditing” trump votes. If these dumb-ass trumpicans think there is so much fraud in this election, then maybe we should be able to get rid of Biggs, Gosar, and every other nutjob elected in AZ. Why are their elections not being questioned? *
*yes yes I know why.
The degree to which this attempted fraud is simply out in the open is staggering.
To me this shows that Chuck Schumer and the other Senate Democrats need to stop worrying about being punished by the voters and just get rid of the filibuster, because:
A: there is NO doubt that McConnell will get rid of it immediately (with much self-righteous posturing) the moment the GOP regains the Senate, so the worrying about Voter Perception (of behaving Too Aggressively) is pointless and ridiculous, and
B: Without being able to get legislation through with 51 votes (via nuking the filibuster) there is NO way that the 2022 and 2024 elections will be fair. Unless the Senate steps in with laws to prevent it, Arizona and other state legislatures will simply abandon democracy. They will ignore the votes cast in their states and choose whoever they prefer to be their Senators, Representatives, etc. Arizona’s current actions demonstrate this clearly.
Only the US Senate, by passing HR1/S1, can prevent GOP legislatures from ending democracy in America. And only getting rid of the filibuster can make that happen.

I’ve posted before this comment:
“It’s Schrodinger’s election!”
That means that the selection they agree with on the ballit is the part that’s valid, but the selection they don’t agree with is not valid.
Not at The Dope there isn’t!
If a moron tweets in a forest and no one reads it, does the tweet really exist?
I dunno, but it’s so lovely that bullshit like this is going unnoticed.
I don’t really know where to start with this. Did South Korea insult his hairdo or something?
ETA, it was probably inspired by SK President Moon saying that Trump didn’t successfully negotiate anything with North Korea and that he wanted to meet with Biden. I guess Trump thinks all the world leaders that were his “friends” should refuse to talk to Biden.
Unfortunately, after he ceases to exist, he’ll still attract attention, and the effects of his disasterous public persona will live on for years longer than he will.
Yes, he will be this conservatives’ generation version of Reagan. What has to happen is for him to be the visible face of an even bigger Republican defeat in 2024.
A consummation devoutly to be wished, but they’ll still find a way to exonerate him for it.
Pretty funny that he’s playing less golf now than when he was president.
So you can see why he wants his old job back!
I can relate. Back when I worked full time, sometimes a vacation would be so exhausting that I wanted to get back to work so I could rest.
