I had a bit of a… I don’t think “revelation” is the right word, call it a hunch.
We’ve seen the Supreme Court make some pretty dramatic moves lately. Squashing Roe v Wade and overturning decades of precedent and what many considered to be settled law. Affirming jerrymandering that clearly discriminates against minorities. Blocking efforts from the Biden administration to prioritize deportation of the most dangerous illegal immigrants to fix the existing policy of deporting everyone who arrives in the US illegally. They are pretty far to the right and they’re not being subtle about it.
On the other hand, they haven’t done much for Donald Trump personally, despite the fact that a third of them were appointed directly by him. They refused to listen to his request to block the January 6 Committee’s investigation based on executive privilege. They refused to humor his ham-fisted attempts to contest 2020 election results. And when they struck down Trump’s attempt to end DACA without any real justification, Trump actually said something that might be insightful.

Yes, Donny. I do. I think that the Supreme Court has an agenda here but you’re not part of it. They don’t see you as being useful to their cause. You’re a fumbling clown who pretends to share their values, but you don’t. And I don’t think they have any loyalty toward you, or see you as an ally or asset.
So, while I don’t have a lot of faith in the Supreme Court, I also think they have no use for Trump and will not lift a finger to help him.

Yup, these aren’t Trump judges they are McConnell judges. They are ideologically as far right as they come but, they have a vision for this country. This is a vision that has theocratic tendencies, favors the powerful and disfavors those on the margins, but having an idiot Narcissistic criminal on the throne is not part of it (with the possible exception of Thomas who has to live with a QAnnon cultist.)
The impression that the entire right wing is totally in the tank for Trump comes from the fact that most of them are elected officials who have to survive primaries populated by MAGA idiots, and so have to pay fealty to him or lose their jobs. The justices have no such constraints and so are free to handle the levers of power in such a way as to get a more competent oligarch in charge.
I know this wasn’t totally serious, but it bears pointing out that in practical terms, nobody with an unassailable official lifetime appointment need pay any mind to any moral obligation they may have previously acknowleged towards anybody who helped them get that appointment. “What are you going to do, fire me?”

Lincoln only served a small portion of his second term so he might be able to run, seing that if you inherit the presidency due to the inability of the previous president to serve out his term, you are entiled to run again so long as your initial term was less than two years. It would be unprecedented to have an undead person run, but I’m not sure how the courts would rule on that.
As written, the amendment says you can only be elected twice.
