I was thinking the same thing, I think that’s literally the case. She’s the daughter of Punjabi immigrants, though she herself was born in South Carolina.
She goes by Nikki (and has for most of her life, since childhood), but that’s technically her middle name; her full name at birth was Nimrata Nikki Randhawa. Nikki is a Punjabi name that bears a superficial resemblance to the American “Nicky”. (Though I’m sure it helped when she pursued politics as a Republican.)
An unpaid one at that. On the plus side, you get your mug on television so there’s some free advertising. On the other hand, you represent a pig.
Apparently, Trump said he wouldn’t pick her as a running mate because she had, in his words, a “complexion problem”. Not a bad complexion. I’m pretty sure he was talking about skin color, not zits.

Trump wipes his ass on the ten commandments. His bloated ego means he couldn’t ask for or give forgiveness if his life depended on it - indeed holding grudges is his hobby. His attempts to appear to be Christian were laughably fake.
Christian Evangelical leaders nonetheless supported him because they knew that in return for their followers’ votes, he’d happily ignore secular principles and stack the SC with religious conservatives, and he looked like a winner.
And now he’s done their bidding and they don’t need him any more and (even worse) he looks like a loser, they are throwing him under the bus. Who’d a thunk it?
I didn’t open this thread to discover ways that disgraced former President Trump had failed miserably in his attempt to piss you off. But I will allow it.
