Of course it’s possible, his lawyers are terrible. That’s what happens when you never pay people you hire, you only get the dregs. Particularly Habba.
Many of Habba’s fellow senior Trumpland attorneys—including but not limited to Alan Garten—have all privately vented that she has botched things or doesn’t know what she’s doing, according to Trumpworld legal sources intimately familiar with the topic. Some of them want her fired or sidelined.
When she’s being called horrible and incompetent by his other lawyers, that’s pretty bad.
In private, Trump has repeatedly commented on how much she “loves Trump” and has on many occasions gushed to close associates about her physical appearance—how she’s “a beauty” on TV and at his clubs, according to two sources who’ve talked to him about Habba in recent months.
One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that the only women Trump hires or appoints is usually quite attractive.
Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that attractive women are not sharp as tacks, but I think that looks are the first part of the qualification process. And for Trump, it may be the only qualification.
Not just be a lawyer, but be an excellent lawyer. I remember a quote from someone decades ago: “Unlike their doctors, people want their lawyers looking as prosperous as possible.”
Trump mistook E. Jean Carroll for his ex-wife, Marla Maples. Carroll isn’t his type, he says, but Maples clearly was (or at least, was enough so that he actually, y’know, married her)! Yeesh.
“The former president also has a reputation for not paying his contractors. USA Today found that over a 30-year period, Mr Trump was involved in more than 3,500 lawsuits in which contractors alleged he or his organisations did not pay them for their work.”
I guarantee that you had no idea who Alina Habba was before she was Trump’s lawyer. (Nor did anyone else; she was a small-time lawyer who just happened to have an office 8 minutes away from Mar-A-Lago.)
Now she’s a television celebrity.
I wonder if lawyers see working for Trump as a sort of internship.
There was a story circulating months ago that Trump supposedly refused to nominate Nikki Haley for Secretary of State because of her ‘bad complexion.’ Completely believable.
