How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

What is with the “tear” obsession? People coming to him with tears in their eyes?

It’s an indication of how strongly his mighty personality affects others’ emotions. They simply can’t resist showing their love and devotion by tearing up.

~ Random Letters That Let Everyone Know It Was Trump

Which was the style at the time.

I’m telling you, it’s the smell of sulfur.

But seriously, I wouldn’t find it flattering if everyone cries in my presence.

Tan the Conman evidently believes he really is Christ:

he former president event attempted to argue that he was a martyr for the evangelical audience.

“I’m getting indicted for you,” he told the crowd.

He also hit the usual bigot points:

*Lies about abortion
*Making abortion a federal issue
*Lies about transgender care

I was talking with these evangelists yesterday in front of their church. They said they were still voting for Trump despite his court cases. Me: “He fingered a victim in a lingerie store. Doesn’t make a difference in your opinions?” Them: “We don’t have to approve of his character to vote for him. He’s going to be the Republican candidate.” End of conversation

“So if Satan himself ran as a Republican, you’d vote for him? Are you a Christian first, or are you a cult follower of a political party?”

When you mix religion and politics, you get politics.

Good one! Your own?

And if they use their pulpit to urge their congregation to support T****, or even vote Republican in general, this should be grounds for revoking their tax-free status (which I presume they have as a church).

No, a friend, and I think he may have been quoting someone famous. Quite apt, I think.

From best I can tell it was a 2007 quote from Reverend Gene Carlson of Wichita. A number of articles quote him, here’s one example:

But then you’d have to do the same to any congregations whose leaders urged votes for Democrats, which many do.

Let’s just get rid of tax exempt statuses for churches, period.

Along with all other non-profits?

Religion isn’t non prophet, or non profit.

I know you’re probably kidding, but I’m fairly sure most of not all religious institutions are registered non-profits. And yes, it sucks that hucksters and hatemongers can hide behind that designation while raking in millions, but there’s no easy way (or lawmaker appetite) to distinguish the scumbags from the genuine faithful.

A topic for another pit thread, perhaps?

I have gone to church my whole life and I have never once heard a minister or priest, from the pulpit, urge the congregation to vote for one candidate or another. If they did I do agree their tax free status should be revoked.

Gonna have to just let God sort them out I suppose. Not religious myself, but some of, not all, of these people make me ill.
