The FBI had been monitoring Taranto’s online activities because of his involvement in the riot, and began searching for him last Wednesday after he asserted on his YouTube livestream that he was in Gaithersburg, Maryland on a “one-way mission” and intended to blow up the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Very high likelihood this wingnut was also a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. They have an (of course) irrational hatred/suspicion of NIST and the investigation surrounding the event.
I googled “national institute of standards and technology conspiracy theory” (last part was just a guess.) Most results were about NIST producing a report on on the World Trade Centre collapse that debunked the CTs.
