How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

I wonder what Maher would think if we could send him this thread.

Probably nothing. He says he doesn’t read criticism.

Still, interesting. Has anyone voiced a complaint here that distorts, misunderstands, gets wrong anything he has said?

So as is well known, a very bad business man, a person that sidles up to dictators and takes their help, extorts friendly country’s, cheats his own country men, try’s to overthrow elections… and on and on.

If his followers don’t’ know know by now, well, best of luck with that theory.

His followers admire him. Because he is also a dumb ass. They think he’s smart. No more prof is needed.

I see where you’re coming from. But a decade from now I think a lot of people who supported Trump are going to be embarrassed to admit they did. When their kids or grandkids ask them how anyone could have fallen for Trump’s obvious con their going to lower their eyes and mutter something noncommittal. But he’ll still have his hardcore followers of course.

Or, hell, maybe in 2033 we’ll be under the Trump dynasty with Eric in charge and Barron eagerly waiting to take over.

Quoting myself from the 2020 Election thread (because I’m lazy and it still seems relevant):

There seem to be two factions in the “base”: the Trumpisti who will follow Dear Leader to the end, and the fascisti who will follow the Duce as long as he has power (and by extension, gives them a sense of having it) but will renounce him as soon as he falls. My Magic 8 Ball says nothing but “Reply hazy, ask again later,” so I have no idea how Trump’s following breaks down or who will attract the latter faction.

My BIL that I like very much and can hang out with (I only see him about every two years). Is/Was a BIG Trump supporter. He’s actually very well spoken and done very well in life. At this point, I don’t see any reason to rub this in his face. I HOPE he has seen the light.

I’ve long advocated not making fun of or attacking people who come in from out of the cold in regards to their support of Trump. In part beacuse I think if others see that they’ll be scorned even if they leave the cult that provides a disincentive to leave. But it’s getting harder for me to hold that attitude.

Hey now! Lets not knock my future husband, eh?

Yeah, we all make bad choices. Best to learn from them from the inside. Pounding on them from the outside only makes them put up more armor.

‘Told you so’ is not an effective way to change a persons world view. And it’s very petty.

You got engaged to a corn dog?

I think you’d do better than marrying someone with a stick up his butt.

Corn dog? I thought the guy with a stick up his butt was Jose Jalapeño.

I’ll admit being to being too lazy to research this properly but I don’t think this is accurate. My recollection is that Trump’s initial travel bans got slapped down hard by lower courts but were substantially upheld by the Supreme Court. The travel bans were only fully lifted when Biden came into office.

Wikipedia has an article. It seems to me that describing his travel bans as “slapped down hard” as a summary of the ultimate outcome is more inaccurate than accurate

Per your own cite, Executive Order 13769 was suspended and Trump abandoned it. So not upheld.

Executive Order 13780 superseded 13769, so made the original moot, and this one was upheld (with some restrictions; people with relatives in the US could still travel). It exempted Iraq, which the initial ban had included.

Every ban that Trump issued was challenged in court and ultimately modified to not restrict people with relatives in the US. It’s true that my memory was faulty for the most part, but I mainly remembered the initial one that seemed to get the most attention, and it was definitely stopped in court.

Based on the Muslims I’ve known here in Canada, most wanted to come to Canada to get away from an overbearing religion. They did not want to come here to spread Islam; they wanted to come to a place where Islam held no sway, and never will. They could be Islamic, sure, but also free to be the kind of Muslims they wanted to be. Five prayers a day? Sure, if I can manage. A headscarf for women? Screw that. Alms for the poor? Well, yes, of course. And so on.

Thing is, people ultimately pick and choose their religion, regardless of what they grew up with, and they also pick and choose the parts that appeal to them. I’ve got Mormon friends who smoke cigarettes and drink coffee and drink beer, and who don’t care what the Mormon church says, a coffee before work and a cold beer and a smoke after a hot day of work is most welcome. A Catholic friend will happily chow down on a beef hamburger on Friday, because the fish and chips at the sports bar sucks. Mohammad, a Muslim teammate on a beer-league softball team I played for years ago, happily enjoyed the beer during and after the game. Occasionally, a little too much.

Trump and a Muslim ban is just shutting out Muslims who want to live in a place that does not put religion before living a life, and to whom being Muslim and following the Koran is not their total being.

Hey, Mohammad! You’re a great base-hitter, but fercryingoutloud, don’t get snockered by the fifth inning, okay?

The Ramblin’ Man spends a couple of hours blathering and manages to call Hezbolla “very smart”. He also insults PM Netanyahu. Oh, and he’s also now warning that World War III, not World War II, is imminent.

I’m still shocked that pubbies believe this is the best person to be in the Oval Office.

Shut the fuck up, Donnie. You’re out of your depth.

Sorry, you’re doing that thing that doesn’t work, namely, being reasonable/making sense. Got no use for that kinda talk. /s

It’s almost like you’re saying that unreasoning hatred can be a bad thing.

trump is meining some increasingly kampfy sources for his rhetoric lately. The dog whistles have been traded in for ordinary whistles everybody can hear plainly:

‘Donald Trump has denigrated undocumented immigrants in recent weeks by accusing them of “poisoning the blood of our country,”’

He pissed me off today by running his stupid traitorous mouth about how smart Hebollah are.

I don’t think Netanyahu is going to be real pleased with those comments.
